We are heading to all star movies in sept w/dh and ds-3. What is your experience with this hotel. We mainly picked this bc it seemed total kid oriented w/buzz and woody--ds' favorite.

Thanks;) :smooth:

Our experience was good with ASM. We had two rooms, one for us and the other for our teenage children. When we pre-checked in we asked for a room close to the food court (which they gave us). We purchased the refillable mugs which we more than got our money's worth out of. The food in the court was good (my family especially loved the pizza!) The pool is adjacent to the food court so our location was great. There are alot of "props" around the common areas which made for some great photo spots. The rooms are of course smaller than the other properties but they are still the size of a regular hotel room. We had no trouble with the bus service. In fact when we have stayed at the moderate and luxury resorts we noticed more buses for the All Stars.

Hope you have a great trip!

Did you do laundry there? How was that? Did they have a lot of machines? Where are they located?

thanks

I posted a thread about a week ago with our experience at ASMo.

The laundry facilities are near the main pool....I didn't go in though, since we only stayed 3 nights.

I found the rooms to be unusually small....I don't even think the tub was a standard size. But the service was very good, the resort was clean, etc....

I stayed at All-Star Movies in February of 2002 and will be there again this October. In February I had my 13 year old brother with me. We all loved staying there. The theming is amazing. Especialy the Toy Story area! We had a good time at the pool. In the evening after a long day at the parks especially! The food court had a very good selection and was reasonably priced. We stayed in the Fantasia 2000 buildings. Close to the pool and food court. But far enough away to miss the noise. Have a good time!

We stayed there Feb 02 and 03 and plan to in Feb 04. We love it!

In '02 we requesed one of the TS buildings 2nd floor with a courtyard view.. We showed up and were given Dalmations after a couple of min. delay we were switched to TS (Woody's buliding) on the back side (without a view of "Andy's Room") It worked out good. In 03 requested the same thing. We got Buzz's building again opposite the courtyard. And again it worked out well. If you like sleeping in or plan on taking mid-day naps courtyard view (Especially ground floor) is not going to be good. There will be children playing out there most of the day.

The room has a TS poster (and boarder if I remember correctly) everything else is a general moive theme to it.

The playground, pool, and check-in building (cafeteria, arcade, gift shop, etc...) are all a 3 to 5 min. walk away.

We are generally at the resort just to sleep. We did eat breakfast once and lunch once at the resort. It was ok. The biscuits and gravy have become a tradition (we LOVE them.)

The walls can be "thin" if you get noisy neighbors and there are alot of kids there so you just may. And the toilet flush can be heard through the walls (...you'll see).

Will you have a car? If you do every day you will drive right past a McDonalds on your way in and out which can save you a couple of bucks on your vacation. (It's a little expensive for a McDonalds but it's cheap for WDW)

Everything is easy to get to (Again if you have a car) I can't tell you about the buses.

Actually there are laundry rooms by both pools at ASMo. I believe there are like 8 machines??? Maybe more at the Mighty Ducks. Never crowded, I've done laundry several times. Dryers took a LONG time. The rooms are small but clean and the themes are awesome! The bus service we have always been pleased with. We have had to stand on many occassions, but it was okay.

WE stayed at the ASM two years ago with two kids and a baby. We were placed in Fantasia, which was close to the front, because it's a big place and the kids get all tuckered out. I thought it was great for the money. There were a lot of props, including a car, that my boys loved. They loved the Toy Story area in particular and the pools. The kiddie pool, while small, had a little whale or something that squirted water which was great fun for them.

The laundry area was right by the baby pool and there were not very machines for such a large resort. The dryers sucked.. had to put them in twice, so it seemed like FOREVER. I was afraid to leave because we were like vultures waiting to pounce on the dryers. The machines were expensive, but I don't ordinarily use a laundromat, so what do I know? I brought some of the laundry tablets, which saved a bit of money, but weren't compatible with some of the washing machines.

The food court was good, pretty much what you'd expect from a food court. It seemed easier to get in and out of as compared to All Star Sports.

Just got back from ASMo and had a great time. The main pool is good and there are plenty of chairs.

If you stay in Toy Story you can take a short cut to the bus stop. If you walk to the back of building 10 , Buzz, you will see a walk way that will take you right to the bus stop.

I've never used the dryers. But you could try taking a couple of dry towels from the room and throwing them in the dryer with your load. This may get your clothes dry in just one shot.

I know it works if you need something dried fast. Throw in a pair of jeans with a towel or two and it dries a lot faster.

Weve stayed at ASMO in 01, 02 and are going again in 2 weeks! We immediately fell in love with it. The theming is so DISNEY! The rooms are fine, not huge, but we had no problem with space, and the theming is continued in the rooms. Loved the food court, pools(more theming...we are hockey fans), bus service, layout of the resort(very compact compared to our previous stays at DxL). CMs were very friendly, helpful, and were able to work some magic for us. The price is just a bonus for us. ;)

Oh thanks for all the great replies. I had heard they were small, but I dont think it will be a problem at all for us bc it only dh, myself and ds-3. He is just so excited about those big woody/buzz statues...too cute! He has no idea what is in store for him. Good tip about the bus stop short cut.

Getting more and more excited!!

The size of the room has never been an issue for us. Most recently we were here for 9 nights with all our assorted luggage and never felt cramped. Now if I had four adults in the room and we spent any amount of time in it then I might start to feel the pinch.

We LOVE ASMo. It is our favorite resort (so far). We are splurging on a Deluxe this trip, but sneaking down for a weekend (without DD5) and staying in the Movies again! Have a great time!

Wow you plan your trips way far in advance!!!! I am lucky to get it figured out 6 months early.

  :jester: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :smooth:
