I just wanted to start a thread to focus some attention on the serious problems that Fay caused in central Florida, and to help direct some good karma towards the Orlando area.

It's becoming apparent that even though Fay was for the most part in the "tropical storm" category, its impact on parts of central Florida was worse than some of the hurricanes you've had in the past. The amount of rain that it dumped on you all is mind-boggling: some places report receiving 40 percent of their ANNUAL rainfall in TWO DAYS. The flooding has impacted hundreds of homes, and disrupted thousands of lives.

The media attention this is receiving, at least here in the Northeast, is minimal. I get most of my news about it from my email updates from the Orlando newspaper.

Anyway, I hope that things dry up quickly, and that those whose homes have been flooded are able to clean up and return home soon.

Sending PD to all of you who went through the storm.... (and hoping the weather eases up on Central FL for a while).

Fay was NOT fun. Although we had flooding and wind damage here in NE Florida, it was nothing compared to what Central Florida had to endure. I hope the rest of the season is quiet and that those folks can get their lives back to normal soon! :grouphug:

We were in WDW last week during Fay. There were local FL folks checking in to get "away" from Fay's damage. :sad1:

I hope everyone is drying out, make repairs and getting somewhat back to normal.

And I would like to publicly apologize for my comments last week about Fay 'being just a tropical storm'. :guilty: You'd think that as someone that has grown up in FL that I wouldn't be so flippant about these things. I suppose that since in my part of FL we rarely see anything less than a full blown hurricane that I kinda blew Fay off. She didn't have the 'hurricane' status she was still a definite force to reckon with. I apologize and hope I didn't offend anyone.
