hey guys, ok, I tried (really I did) not to say anything about the rash of new swaps here. However, the swaps that are NOT disboard swaps put me over the edge. I have absolutely no problem with someone coming here and saying, "hey I'm hosting a swap on another board, have x number of spots to fill" but to come and say, "hey here's a disney swap" that didn't originate here and is full of other people (and not disboard people). that's not right. It is leaving out a significant number of disboard people who might actually be interested in the swap. Please be courteous to this board and put in the title something to the effect that is another board's swap. maggie

I agree. I was really excited when I saw a bazzill character swap and then was disappointed when it was full already. (Although, no more swaps for me until I finish the two that I'm in now)

Hi guys

Well I read this and some PM's on the subject and I gotta say this

I agree that if someone is starting a swap that is not a DIS BOARD MEMBER ONLY swap that needs to be made clear from the begininng
Something either in the Title or First line should say
I am hosting this swap from another Scrapping place and I have X number of spots to fill anyone interested??

The Swaps and Exchanges on the CCS board and all the boards on the DIS are at your own risk and I think everyone understands that and that is not the issue However out of polietness and the spirit of friendship I think that as a Host the people have an obligation to be upfront and open with the participants
I host exchanges on the CB and would never include people from other boards with out letting everyone know before the sign up

I hope we can all agree to being clear ask to who are in swaps from now on

Just my opinion here but I have come to trust alot of DISERS which is why I have no problem with my personal info going out on exchanges here but I would be uncomfortable if it went to places I was unaware of

NOW that being said

I see NO PROBLEM with people bringing swap info here and seeing if anyone is interested so long as upfront you are VERY CLEAR about the fact that it includes others and the number of slots open

any questions feel free but if I don't answer right away
it could be I am not around or just flying thru I had a death this weekend in the family and am dealing with that now

BTW -- To The OP thank you for bringing this into the open
I think once everyone understands this will become a non issue :)

Well that explains why there were two swaps here that got filled up with only a few people posting. I thought I missed a whole thread on sign ups!

Me too. I thought, when did those get put up? I was excited to see the Bazzill swaps and even liked the themed idea, but then was very disappointed to see it wasn't even a DIS swap.

Since so many seemed to like the idea
maybe someone could start one here on the DIS ?? :)

Maggie, thanks for starting this thread & bringing it out in the open.

well since this thread is sort of directed at me I guess I should reply

If you read the first line of the post it says I have a few spot available granted I didn't say it's from a different board and i should have but i did add that. And it did say if you had any question please ask them so it's not like i was trying to hide anything.

with that said I did explain I am more than willing and would be very happy to make a second group for the epcot swap. Right now the swappers from the other swap and I are discussing the final details. We have decided the colors picked will just blend together since the colors of the flags are the almost the same. we are figuring out how to let the swappers use their OWN creativity with some of the colors already picked. again if anyone would be interested in a second group for an epcot swap I will be more than happy to host. I don't have a problem with it. I also said in my other reply that I didn't think anyone would be interested in the epcot swap since I was a new poster and it was a swap already done not to long ago. I will also add on a 2nd group to the character swap but I will not not make it a bazzill swap. Some people said they don't use Bazzill that is why they didn't join I only use Bazzill that is why the swap is Bazzill. If anyone wants to copy the ideas of the groups and use different paper they are more than welcome to. I hope that clears this up I really wasn't trying to cause problems here.

Actually one of your thread has that at the top and the other one doesn't. I figured from the first one the one you were mentioning it was from your swappers group. But it is the other one that had me personally more concerned and confussed. But again I stand by the fact, if you are looking for people to fill spots from another site, state it outright so everyone knows.

Actually I had to go back and check to see if you were right because I can swear I wrote it on both. but I didn't add it to the second, I will got back and edit them (even though it might be alittle late) and IF I decided to multi-group swap again I will post it as so. Thanks

It is ALWAYS better to be upfront - the way it 'appears', ImaDizneyNut just came from another place to fill her empty spots. I said 'appears' because I don't her and while she has been a member of the DIS for 17 days (12/31/05) - she has started a lot of activity - I AM concerned that someone without a track record here is soliciting from our members a LOT of stuff.

Hope I am wrong - maybe she is highly motivated - GLAD to see the moderators involved...JMHO

I'm glad you wrote appears because I am not soliciting anything from anyone. I have a great host and swap record on yahoo and AOL. You can check me on any bad swapper list and you will never find me. I think any host that solicites anything from anyone is a THIEF.

I didn't mean to start "activity" I was actually just seeing if anyone wanted to swap.
thanks for your comments and not just jumping on me because like you said you don't know me :o)

well now that we have all kinds of dialog going, I have a question (yup another one). I have to disagree with your mailing instructions (just the 1st one)

Now to the Mailing Details:

1. Place your items a baggie, you will end up with 1 baggie per group you picked. Please DO NOT label your item on its back. Some people don't like that

why would someone care if my name is on my swap item? Are they going to pass it off as their own? that's easy enough to do if it's on your page in your book. are they going to decide they don't like my swap item? fine too, I'm sure I've gotten back over the years stuff I don't really care for but it's nice to know who made it because over the years you can really see improvement in everyone's stuff. or are they going to sell it on ebay? Much harder to do that if my name is on my item. I know I sound cynical but come on, if you don't like someone else's name on their swap stuff, don't swap. Sorry. maggie

No, it's not to "steal" someone elses work. I sometimes put scrap items on top of my photos. I try to keep ANY ink away from my photos (Right now the ink is safe but what about the future). If I have everything with everyone name on it then I and who ever is the same way is limited to where they can put their items. Also how am I to know you used the correct ink "safe" pen to write your name.
like you said if you don't like someone else's name on their swap stuff, don't swap. My thing is if you don't like my rules then don't swap with me. Plain and simple that is why I put my rules upfront for all to see. It won't be a shock later now.
BTW. I don't mind answering any questions anyone has.
OH and when I'm done with a swap I put it in my webshots and put the person who made it name under it for all to see.
I hope that answered your question if you have any more please feel free to ask

OK now...
as I see it -
a lot of members of this board have been here for YEARS and running swaps for YEARS

My first swap was here ;)
there have always been similar procedures... a few variations by hostens but nothing to extreme...

then as 'we see it' Trcey comes out of NOWHERE (again this is how it appears) and starts these multi board mega swaps with rules that make you go hhhhmmmmmm....

can you blame us for questioning or being hesitant?

I think any wise scrapper would look at your post count and be concerend - and to think some of these swaps arent' due til WHEN

it really makes thinks look bad...

Nope I don't blame you not one little bit. 1 swap is due in April because it has not yet been filled. I figured by the time it will be filled it will be closer to the due date then you think. The other one is due in Oct since it is a kit swap you have to make the WHOLE kit for 11 people. I thought that might just kill people over the summer.

Right now I am hosting a swap it has 10 groups and 70 spots it is due Jan 31. It was hosted the same way. As soon as I get all the items I will put it in my webshots so you all can see how my swaps turn out. The reason for all the rules is so nobody can say well I didn't know that, you never said anything, I don't understand. I like to have all the rules for all to see. I was in a swap recently (I was the swapper not host) it was a bazzill only swap, to me when you see Bazzill ONLY it means you can only use Bazzill paper well it turns out 1 swapper used patteren paper. When she was told she wasn't suppose to use that, she said i didn't know that. I might have alot of rules but you will always know what you will be getting back in return.

Again I don't blame you for be weary :sunny: I would feel the same way. I must tell you I'm not really a newbie. I use to post on the other disboards under a different name (I can't seem to get my password out of the disboards or they don't seem to want me to have it lol) and lurk in here until recently that is.I also sent alot of my buddies to the disboards (not sure if they made their way to scrapping but they should be on some of the disboards).

fair answer. as I have said before, I'm not a good rule follower (unless they all make sense of course). For me personally, you have some good sounding swaps but too many rules and the due dates are too far away (I would totally forget until like the week before, or just totally procrastinate). Therefore as you put it, "if you don't like my rules, then don't swap with me" works for me, I won't swap with you. I am sure many people will though cause everyone loves a disney swap. Good luck with them and I'd love to see the stuff people do. maggie

Yea I know I have to many rules it's the way I run my life lol I'm ANAL lol
Just for the future If a swap is so far ahead such as the country swap I send reminders out once a month. As the swap gets closer I post updates.

thanks for the well wishes :flower:

I have a question ... why was a swap, that belongs to another board, posted on the DIS anyway??? :confused3
