I was under the three week mark, I had the hotel reserved, and couldn't wait to get my hands on my annual pass.... Then my brother came home last night and informed me he had received a speeding ticket and has to go to traffic court the Friday we planned to be at the DLR. So now we have to push the trip back a week and I've got to start tweaking my plans for hotels, dinning reservations, etc.

Any positive thoughts or vibes are much appreciated.

Wow, that sucks! No real helpful comments but I think your brother owes you something for screwing up your plans, perhaps he could treat you to dinner one night of your trip as compensation? Maybe just think that at least it's only 1 week more that you have to wait.

Family first as they say, right? Good karma will come your way I'm sure. Prepare to have a great time and have fun with the new plans!

Now that is a good attitude to have--and not, I'm ashamed to say, my first reaction upon reading your post.

I hope your trip is magical whenever it happens.

I have no clue if this is possible, but can he just pay in advance or ask the courts for a new date?

where i live court can be rescheduled if plans are made.

Jack

Thanks for the positive posts everyone!

As far as I know the only way he can miss the court date is if he pleads guilty and pays the fine; he has decided he wants to go to court and try for a shot at traffic school.

So sorry. It happened to me. We were 4 weeks away and had to push it back 3 and a half weeks. I am still not back to the 4 week mark and it sucks. Maybe pushing it back will make less crowds? It definately will in my case.

If you don't mind me asking, what was his ticket for? Typically, traffic school is always an option in AZ if you haven't used that option in the previous two years.

I just used the traffic school option last year for a speeding ticket. I guess I just don't understand why he would have to go to court to exercise the option.

You're a much more forgiving person than I. Heck if my brother (or sister, as it would be in my case) wanted to delay my vacation so they could challenge a simple traffic ticket, then I would tell him (her) "See ya when I get back".

Sorry but there's no way I delay my vacation, change reservations, hotels, etc. for the sake of "trying to fight" a traffic ticket.

But that's just me.

Oh man! I didn't know the Accord went that fast.:car:

Sorry to hear you have to postpone your trip, C owes you big time!

He should be able to call and get an extension....even here in California you can do this, of course the cout date isn't usually until 3 months later or so.

He's got a previous ticket from a red light camera, so he has to see if the judge will let him do traffic school.

Possible previous?

Jack

Yup, the kid has a lead foot sometimes.

I know right?!?!? I've already told him it's a churro a day penalty. :)

I've been trying to get him to call down, but in true young 20's male fashion he's a tough cookie to motivate.

Here's motivation...if he doesn't call, he doesn't go. I am sure there are plenty of people who would go instead. :rolleyes1

That STINKS! BUT! Just keep thinking about standing at the end of main street with a dole whip in hand in the warm cali sun! Although you have a hassle to deal with it will make it all the sweeter when your there!! Just breathe and tough it out!

He better get Driving School or at his age his insurance is going to hit the ceiling.

If he can not even make a phone call to reschedule court hearing up or later then to bad. We are gonna miss ya. I know I am a mean Mom. Not sure if AZ has a limit to number of moving violations you can have before license is --Wave- Bye bye all gone.

I'm so glad that those sorts of mailed tickets are considered to be like a parking ticket in WA...they aren't considered a moving violation here.

I have 3 brothers and I love them dearly...but I'm not sure if I would postpone my trip to Disneyland just b/c one of them decided to run a light!

Also in Wa state depending on the speed it can go from just speeding to racing which is mandatory jail time which I think is a good law. People have a tendancy to change their attitudes when they go behind the bars.

*two thumbs up* :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

I agree. There's NO way my family would shift an entire vacation around because an adult got a speeding ticket. Time for him to pull up his big boy pants and reschedule the ticket. If he can't, won't or it's impossible, then he can miss going to DL. Sometimes being an adult stinks, but he's one now.

I always hire a lawyer and then in WA there is no need to appear...

Not that I have a lot of need for it...
