On the DL website it says AP holders are able to buy tickets for the Halloween party now... non AP (ers) have to wait until July 1st... but can you tell me what days are the Halloween party? I can't find it on the website. I figure if APers can buy the tickets it must show them when they log in what the days are.

Also in your experience, is the first week of October busy?

I found the first few days of October to be busy - not sure about the whole week. There are various school breaks and things which make early October a busier time - some say too busy for them to want to return for another October visit and some say the crowds are not bad. Honestly, with everything going on at DLR this year, I don't expect the parks to be non-busy all year - I think it will be pretty healthy attendance through December - but I'm sure the intensity of crowds will ebb and flow.

The party dates are:

Friday, September 30
Monday, October 3
Friday, October 7
Tuesday, October 11
Friday, October 14
Tuesday, October 18
Friday, October 21
Tuesday, October 25
Friday, October 28
Monday, October 31

Okay, well for us it looks like it'll have to be Oct. 3rd. since we are in part Oct. 2nd-6th. :) Hopefully it's not too bad. Dh will be in a wheelchair, which is why we decided Oct. instead of July.

I am trying to figure out which night to do to the party.. The night we arrive.. That friday night or the following Tuesday... Any input?

Here's how we did it last year:

We didn't have APs at the time and our trip was scheduled to arrive on Tuesday and leave on Sunday. For that trip, our options were either the Tuesday or Friday party. Since we were using Park Hopper tickets, I figured we'd buy the Tuesday MHP tickets in lieu of an extra day on our Park Hopper. So it worked out that we arrived at the hotel about 1:00 p.m., allowing some down time and unpacking before we could enter "early" with our MHP tickets at 3:00 p.m. We stayed until 11:00 p.m. that night at the party!

Then, we validated our Park Hoppers on Wednesday a.m. and used them through Saturday.

It's not a big money-saving strategy because there only about a $15 difference (generally-speaking) between a 4 and 5 day park hopper price. But the MHP is a separate event and to do the park before the party's early entry, you need to have either a park hopper or AP to get in. (If you don't have either of those, you wait until the party's stated early entry time, which is mid-afternoon.)

So - doing the party on the day we arrived and not entering early - I chopped one day off my park hopper pass and saved us enough to pay for one dinner! :)
