those of you w/bunkbeds

how do you tansition to the beds? I'm afraid my youngest is gonna want to be on the top bunk & its gonna be a royal fit tonight - I'm not sure what I can do to make the bottom bunk more appealing for her - she's too little (3) to be on the top or I'd just alternate who got to sleep up there....I'm beginning to 2nd guess buying bunks now...

It was just a rule that you had to be 7 to sleep in the top bunk. No negotiating. Each of the boys does have their own sheet set, and that is THEIR bed.

But I posted on another thread recently, that all three used to sleep in the same bottom bunk until the oldest went to kindergarten. Then he moved to the other bunks bottom bunk. At 7 he moved to the top bunk and the youngest moved to that bottom bunk. The middle one has never wanted to move to the top bunk, so we have one empty top.

Anyhoooo...I would maybe wash her sheets, and have her help you make the bed. Put her stuffed animals, etc around the bed. Her jammies under the pillow. Make it hers. And I bet she will be excited to pop in there tonight!

When I was little, my mom used to take a sheet and tuck it under the top bunk to make a tented area on the bottom bunk. It always made it appealing for my little sister.

Have you thought about hanging curtains around the bottom bunk? You could attach them with velcro on the inside---that way, you could easily remove or wash them when need be. You could swag them back whenever as well.

If you make it fun for her, she might enjoy it more.

THANKS guys! Y'all are SO SMART I would have NEVER thought of something like a curtain/tent....hmmm...gonna look around for something to use tonight....of course then dd#1 will want to be on the bottom bunk then...HAHA OH well - you can't win them all!

You can always just turn the top into this and they both would really enjoy sleeping together on the bottom.
