Those just back. What size was your fridge?

Which resort are you staying in?

The fridges that I've had at the Polynesian were the little-bitty 'cube' types.

They were tall enough for 1/2 gallon milk and juice containers, but it was close.

We were just at AKL and I saw a fridge in the hallway (I guess someone was checking out)--it was also the small cube type. We used a styrofoam cooler which we picked up at Publix on our grocery stop--$2.99 and some ziploc bags that we refilled with ice every morning. If you don't mind the hassle, it works just fine and costs far less than a fridge, which goes for $10.50 + tax/day. If you need the fridge for medication, though, it's my understanding that any WDW resort will supply it at no charge.

Hi, Miffy!

Whether or not WDW charges for a fridge for medication seems to just depend on what the CM checking you in decides to do. For a long time, WDW was very generous and people who needed a fridge for medication were not charged for it. Unfortunately, some people started taking advantage of that and so WDW then went to a policy of everyone having to pay for a fridge no matter what the reason. When we last spoke with the people in special services, they told us that the new fridges for medication were about the size of a shoebox and that there was no charge for using them.

I would guess that what type of fridge a person gets for medical reasons will depend on the resort, how many of which kind they have and probably on what phase the moon is in(smile).

The only type of fridge we've been given at any resort was the small cube type. Just enough for a few cans of soda and milk. At the GF we just stuck a few things in the minibar and left a note for the mousekeeper to let her know we were using it. She told us the next day that we could empty it if we wanted to... so we took out several items to make more space for our own stuff. I have read posts here before that people were accidentally charged for missing items, but we were lucky I guess.

We stopped and bought a styrofoam cooler last August and didn't have any problems using it during the trip. The ice machine was really close to our room anyway. :)

If you're in a one or two bedroom villa the fridges are nice and big. :) Plenty of room for anything you'd want.

The fridges for rent are dorm size. We rented one at the ASMo and were able to fit 1/2 gallon milk, about 15 juice boxes and about 6 milk boxes. The milk fits on the door, as do a few juice boxes. There is also a small freezer compartment big enough to fit ice packs in. They fit quite a bit for being as small as they appear.

We're staying at POR and the last time we were there (1998) the fridge was about 3 ft tall. I had ordered one for this trip but if it is only the cube size (and still $10) then a styrofoam chest is a much better deal. We plan on stopping at Winn Dixie on our way from the airport. We hope to eat breakfast in the room as much as possible to cut costs a bit.

Thanks,
Robin

We stayed at the Contemporary and got one...small...we put 2 gallons of milk in it, a Go-Gurt box in the door, and were able to squeeze some grapes and cream cheese on top of the milk.
