Those giant bows on cars for Christmas

It is that time of year again, for trophy wives to wake Christmas morning and find the silver Mercedes Benz they wanted sitting in the driveway with a big red bow. In my neighborhood this happens every year. This year it will be a neighbor. I know this because they asked to store the car in our garage until Christmas morning. The car won't arrive for another 2 weeks, but the giant red bow was ready. I asked if the dealer throws that in, and he said, oh no, I had to pay $400 for it.

I know I was mocked in the past for my insistence that $200 bras are worth it, but even I have to draw the line at a $400 bow.

My oldest and dearest friend - since I was 4 yrs. old - woke up to this kind of surprise one Christmas morning.. It wasn't a Mercedes, but it was a brand new car that she had been wanting for awhile.. Never even occured to me that the bow would be extra.. LOL..

My parents gave me a car on Christmas morning right before I turned 16. It wasn't a Mercedes, but it had a big red bow on top.

The dealership threw in the bow for free, so your neighbors got ripped off!

I second that ... what the heck do they do with the bow afterwards, I wonder? ... I can't imagine basically throwing away $400 ... but I guess maybe if someone can afford a Mercedes than $400 is nothing to them ... it just seems very wasteful to me and something I would never do whether I could afford it or not, but to each his own ...

After the holiday, before they throw the 400 bow in the trash, ask if you can have it, throw it in a giant ziplock and ebay that sucker next year.

This happened to a friend of mine.
I would not call her a "trophy wife" though, lol. Anyway, the car turned out to be quite a lemon (not a Mercedes) and they had nothing but trouble with it and the dealership! Ended up finally getting rid of it but hers was in the driveway with a bow on it on Christmas morning just like on TV--but hers had a payment book every month.

The Christmas I turned 16 I went out to the driveway to a Mercedes (no bow).
I don't think they make bows small enough for matchbox cars! lol It was purple. I still have it.

So if you tell the dealer, I'm not taking the car if you don't throw in the bow, the dealer would let you walk away without the sale. Oh my!!

Funny, this should come up. I saw the commercial on TV tonight and remarked to DH, nobody ever gave me a new car for Christmas.

I actually got a car one christmas from my dh, it was a escort wagon. Funny thing, that was the car I wanted. Those were the days.

Your neighbor got ripped off. I found the website that we bought one for my DD when we got her a car for Christmas and we didn't pay over $70 for one. It was 24" across. Plus they personalized it for FREE!

Sorry I wouldn't spend $400 on a bow that will get thrown out the next day. I have to give DD credit, we had that bow in the garage until this past year and she got the car in 2006.
