Those Bricks In The Ground

On the walkway from MK to the Contemporary there are bricks with people's names and dates. What is the story with these? Is it similar to the Leave A Legacy at Epcot?

I can't speak for certain about the WDW ones, but the ones in the esplanade at DLR between DL and DCA were available to purchase in the early 2000s. For around $200 (give or take) you purchased a brick, and received either an acrylic or wooden replica for home. Our replica is acrylic.

Our brick features our names and wedding date. (mine and the kids feet)
