Those adults that have gone with their parents...

We went in Jan/06 with both sets of our parents (we are both onlies) and had a Great time. We are planning another trip, all 9 of us in Jan/09.:dance3:

As i mentioned, we took my parents in March 07 and they had a great time. So, last week I mentioned that my immediate family might sneak away for a quick Disney trip next week and my Dad says "We'll go too! Can you get a hotel for all of us?". I felt reall bad because I really didn't have enough points left for a larger room, but I did offer up a two-bedroom for March 08. They both were very interested in going back with us.....now if the DDP still offered appetizers! That's what they loved most...the nice TS meals where my mom's diabetes was accommodated with beautiful desserts and attentive chefs!

We also took my mom for her first trip last year, aged 59, and coincidentally it was our dd's first trip too, at the age of 11 months. Growing up, we just couldn't afford family vacations, and my mom never imagined she would get to go. Dh & I took our first trip to disney back in 2000, in our very early 20's, and we had a blast. I couldn't wait to share it with her.
We had a really good time, and she was just in awe with everything. I have some great pictures and some great memories that I will always treasure, especially of her and my dd. My moms health is not the greatest, and I don't imagine that she will make it back, so it really was a special once in a lifetime experience for her.

Actually, for the past 2 years I have always taken my mom and I love it! I actually won't plan a trip unless I nkow her dates are clear as well!! It wouldn't be Disney without her! We just got back fro a 15 day trip and it was wonderful!! I love her so much and I remember going as a child. Now that I own DVC I love to take her and stay in all the really nice places that we couldn't as a child. Now-don't get me wrong-those childhood trips were WONDERFUL and I wouldn't change a thing about them! and watching her with my kids is another blessing altogether! I am so blessed and I plan to take her as long as possible!!

My situation is a little like Mom2aredhead. My mom and stepdad joined us 1 time and I won't EVER be doing that again. They are both smokers and the cigarette breaks after every attraction got old real quick! On top of that they tried keeping the smoking a secret from the kids so after every attraction they would mysteriously disappear and WE had to make excuses to the kids about where they were and why they couldn't go with them! It was a very stressful trip. I'm jealous of all of you who's parent really enjoy Disney :) My mom says their Disney is the Casino. So thats where they spend their free time.

My mom says she will not let us go to Disney without her. She even bought into DVC with us so we had enough points to get a 2 bedroom so she can go.

My MIL went with us last time and it was not as much fun as I had hoped. I was disappointed in it and she didn't seem to get as much enjoyment as I had hoped.

But my mom loves it and her and I go down for 2 weeks with my kids, my DH comes for 1 week of the trip.

My parents are disneyholics like me. We go together quite a bit, or so that we don't get on each others nerves, my parents have gone a few days before us and then we have a few days there together and then they leave and we are on our own for a few days. My parents go to WDW more than me. They will often go and stay at a WDW resort for a week and only go into the parks 2 or 3 days. The rest of the time they relax at the pool or else, dad golfs, mom shops and they eat at the resort restaurants.

I agree with the jealous comment. Disney is our "Happy Place" and I would love for my son to share that with his Grandma and Pop, but I really don't see it happening. For me it's pretty much my dad that's the problem. Mom is more go-with-the-flow (although recently diagnosed w/breast cancer, so she's still not sure how she'll react to her meds) but as long as she feels OK physically, I think she'd be fine - anywhere with her grandchildren is her happy place. But I don't think she'd go without my dad, and him - ugh! It's not just the smoking - OK, a lot of it is the smoking, but only because he's such a BEAST about it. I dunno - he's just sooooo inflexible about everything. And he doesn't like crowds. And try as I might, I just can't picture him sitting on Small World. I think he would bring everyone else down, and it's just not worth it.

We took my inlaws to DLR last year, and my FIL did bring us all down. He couldn't feel the magic at all. MIL was happy to be with the kids and shop for them when we'd go do rides they couldn't do. Soarin' was the only ride FIL enjoyed at all...10+ times in three days. But the hardest part was getting everybody to agree on some sort of schedule. He didn't want to eat more than once a day (plus the continental BF in am) and you can't do that with kids. They need all three meals and snacks. And MIL wanted TS every meal...that was just beyond our budget that trip. And we couldn't get her to understand that. Never again with them.

We went in 2001, 2005 and the Disney Cruise last September and all were with my parents. I love them going with us and I can't imagine going without them. They are going with us again in 24 days!!!!!
