Thongs

Not a Thong in my opinion, but I wouldn't wear that type of shoe to an office job either.. Is there anything in your handbook about open heeled shoes? Maybe that is why it is unacceptable?? :confused3

Unless its a factory I doubt they would restrict open heeled shoes, think of all the sling back dress shoes that would be "out of dress code".

Someone's just being a jerk! IMO!

If you want to make a fuss over it tell your boss (is he a man? he probably doesn't know) what the definition is and that many people are breaking the thong rule. But, then he's likely to amend the dress code to say no crocs either. You can't possibly expect places to list each and every type of shoe that is unacceptable--especially when crocs are a new trend. Crocs are unacceptable (IMO) in an office. If you must wear them get a note from your dr. He did say he would let you then, right?

Have you explained why you are wearing them, maybe that would help if you really feel like you need to wear them right now.

How casual is your office? I know that would be acceptable in ours, but we have a very relaxed dress code (we can wear shorts, tshirts, regular sandals, sneakers, etc.). If it is a more formal dress code, perhaps the Crocs are just being seen as too casual?

No there isn't. It is not the type of shoe I would normally wear in an office either but considering the problem I have finding shoes that fit and the skin on my feet has recently become very sensitive - this is the best option I have at the moment without ordering another pair of custom shoes. Since the skin has become even more sensitive lately to some of my socks I don't want to go down that road until I have to because of the cold weather.

:rotfl: can you wear slippers?? they are not thongs ??

Good Luck and sorry about your sore feet

But, we're not talking about open heeled dress shoes. Crocs are along the lines of beachwear. And I fail to see that he's a jerk because she said she could get a doctor's note for them. That's pretty accommodating if you ask me.

If you have had problems with your feet, I'd call your Dr. and have him write you a scrip for them. Maybe he can write it vague so it covers all Sport Shoes, including, but not limited to: Nike, Easy Spirit, Crocs, Birkenstocks, etc... That should cover it.

A little off topic...
My DH is very light sensitive. His eye Dr. says he's the most light sensitive he's ever seen. He wrote DH a scrip to have 5% limo tint on our car windows. Our local laws are for 20% and above, so what we have is illegal. He's been pulled over several times for it and they let him go every time when they see the scrip. Luckily (knock on wood) I have never been pulled over when driving his car. I do have a copy of the scrip in the glove box just in case.

FIGHT FOR YOUR CROCS!!! For winter you might consider the closed toe version. They look like any other clog, your boss would probably never even notice them.

Chell, by your picture, I'm assuming your crocs ARE black? Just wondering... I could see how he may have a problem if they were one of the brighter colors or something...

I would definitely talk to a doctor.

I agree with everyone's response about what a "thong" is. However, some people equate thongs with "flip flops" which equate to "casual weekend shoes." It's just a carryover. I think what your boss was basically trying to get at was that Crocs (or that style) is not appropriate in the work place.
