:confused3 Nothing wrong with a thong...Wife wears 'em all the time because she says they're more comfortable to her now then granny-panties.

I voted trashy, because I think it is trashy any time you can see it poking out of anything. I don't want to see ANYONE'S underwear, be it a young woman's (or old woman's:scared:) thong, or a man's booty sticking out over the top of his belt...Dont' get me started...

That's not unique to thongs!

And the other choices are just as uncomfortable!
For some and that's the point. We should all just wear what we feel good in whether it's thongs, bikinis, granny panties or bloomers. And we shouldn't expose them to the world whatever they are. ;)

I voted no. I was raised in the time (1980s-90s) where if you didn't wear a thong, you were a dumpy old grandma.

As long as you aren't showing your thong off, it's not trashy. Now, if you are showing your thong (or any type of underwear!), then yes, it is trashy. But that's a whole different story.

This may be a bit TMI..........

but I wear a thong everyday.. pants, skirts, shorts, dress, whatever. It's just what I'm used to and comfortable with (yes, comfortable, I promise!! ) I don't think I'm trashy. :flower3:

Oh, I absolutely agree!! I can't fathom why anyone would care what I wear as long as they can't see it.

Very weird thread.

Just wondering, did anyone notice the ad at the bottom of page two? Wth is that?

Okay.. let me rephrase my post-- Man thongs (and reversed man thongs) are icky!!!!

Why is it inappropriate for a teenager to wear a thong? I initially wore them to get rid of VPL. I continue to wear them because they're comfortable. I see nothing wrong with it at all, even for a teenager.

I don't have kids...but I don't know if I would be thrilled if my 16 year old went out in a thong. Maybe a special occasion due to panty lines, but I don't know...

I guess I don't understand the aversion to underwear, non-thong kind, and panty lines? Has anyone really come up to you and said "OMG, are you wearing UNDERWEAR :scared1: ". Is it supposed to be a secret? :confused3

I think it is appropriate for a 16 year old to wear a thong for pantyline purposes ONLY!! When she starts wearing them just to be "sexy", that's when you put the hammer down. I NEVER wore a thong at that age but teenage girls are different these days. :sad2: I guess it depends on the purpose of wearing it. JUST MY OPINION!!!

What if that's what she's comfortable in?

This has always been my theory!:thumbsup2

Pray tell, OP, do you find an occasion when a thong isn't trashy (when worn under clothing)? My guess is you don't. I see no difference between wearing a thong under jeans than under a dress. So, no, I do not think it's trashy to wear a thong under a dress. If you don't like thongs, then don't wear them. But don't classify people who wear them as trashy. It's an undergarment and it's none of your business what other people wear.
OP here.....no, I don't think they're trashy when worn under jeans(as long as they don't hang out the top for people to see)

The reason I care at all about "other people's" undergarments ....since everybody seems to wonder why I care.....is that I have a 16 year old DD and it was a subject of discussion in my car the other day.

DD wears thongs on a daily basis since according to her, they are more comfortable. I have no problem with that. My problem is that in a dress (no pantyhose)...I'm thinking you're just about naked under there. And if you're going to be dancing at a dance I'm thinking there's a possibility that your dress might lift a bit or something and people might get an unexpected view of your bare butt. Just my thinking. So I've always told DD to wear full coverage undies when in a skirt or dress. She has the kind that are like those spanx type like a boyshort but no lines or anything and that's what she wears on those occasions but a friend of hers wears thongs in skirts and dresses so we were discussing whether or not it was appropriate and I figured I'd ask you guys. These girls don't wear pantyhose and their skirts/dresses are pretty short. No inappropriately short, but short as the style is these days.

Apparently I'm mistaken (per the poll) and it's perfectly ok to wear a thong under a dress...who knew? I know I couldn't do it...I'd feel too bare...but then again, I don't wear thongs to start with.

So, thanks for the feedback. It's been very interesting!

That's why I said "ANYONE'S underwear".

And while we are on the subject, could someone explain thong pantiliners to me? Is there really anything down there to attach a pantiliner to? Never mind, we may just end up getting this thread closed, but when I see them in the store I just go:confused: , just wondered if anyone else found them odd.

I was confused because you said that you voted that wearing a thong with a dress is trashy... and based on the rest of your comment, it didn't make sense.

And all I'm gonna say on the rest of this is... they wouldn't keep selling 'em if people weren't buying 'em.

Always thought the same thing, until I had to wear dress pants every day for work. I'd never felt like I had to wear a thong every day until then. They attach quite well and work great.

What is that at the bottom of page 4? How come we cannot talk about anything that might be inuendo but they can advertise those thongs on the bottom of this page?
EtA
OKAY now it's gone....is it me? Was I halucinating. I could swear there were men's lower torsos advertising things on the bottom of this page.
