This year started off horribly.

Someone from our church/school lost her baby on New Years eve, my niece's Grandma passed away on New Years Day and today my childhood best friend's Dad passed away.

Too much sadness right now and there isn't anything we could do about it.

I'm sorry you are feeling so sad right now. Just remember that things will get better.

My family has had a really tough time lately. This past fall, between Sept. & October, DD16 was admitted to the hospital on FOUR separate occasions. On her 5th visit, she was admitted and stayed there for 8 weeks.

:worship:She just came home three days ago.

During all those weeks, no matter how bad things got (and believe me...they were BAD) and when DH and I felt like complaining, we would say to ourselves and each other, "Hey, why are we complaining? There are people here who have it even worse than we do". That usually would stop us right in our tracks from complaining and feeling sorry for ourselves.

I guess what I'm trying to say is....be thankful for the good things you have and remember that things will get better.

Wow! Well she's home now and I hope she won't have to go near a hospital for a loooong time.

omg how sad! It may be hard for those families to celebrate NYE for a while, but with love and support I think the pain will get less. I hope you have a lot of great things happen this year.

My school has been hit hard already this year. One of our district grounds keepers had a heart attack and died on the 1st, my secretary lost her mother on the 2nd and on the night of her wake, we found out that one of the teachers lost her mother. Not a good start to the new year.

....same here.....my M-in-L is in a rehab center after spending more than 3 weeks in the hospital (for the SIXTH TIME in the last 10 weeks!) and she STILL has many medical issues....one of my friends from school lost her grandma on Wednesday, and my furbaby had an emergency operation and almost died on Monday....it's GOT to get better...:guilty:

Glad to hear she is home.

I also share your philosophy of enjoying what you have and also be supportive of those in need. I think that is the best thing to come to from times of sadness.

HUGS to all of us who are struggling.

And to you OP, sorry that your yr started off as a bummer.:hug::hug:
