This weekend travelers: be prepared for weather change

We leave on Sunday and we're almost all packed. For me it was probably pretty easy to pack. Last April we went to Europe for two weeks and even spent a day at Disneyland Paris. I'm basically packing the same as I packed for that trip - couple pairs of jeans, couple pairs of capris and a couple pairs of shorts. Hubby has jeans and shorts. And we both have a couple long sleeve shirts, sweatshirts and fleece zip-up jackets.

My first trip to WDW was in June. Very hot and made it a little less enjoyable. These cooler temps will be great for us. And since we're accustomed to the cold, we're going to love the Florida weather.

You are waaay ahead of me. I haven't opened a suitcase yet! :idea:
Neither has my DH!! He always waits until the night before, and it drives me crazy! :headache: I don't know how he doesn't forget things, because I know I would. I have to have a few days to make sure I have everything I need.

Have a great trip everyone, and enjoy the weather!

My wife already has her suitcase and the kids suitcases open (leave on Sat) and almost packed. I will pack mine at about 3 AM on Sat (just after I finish my laundry) and take whatever I own, which isn't much. I also have lots of Old Navy LS shirts. They are great. They don't have the stupid elastic wrist cuffs that I hate so much. Before I had these I never ever wore long sleeves :)

My DH and two DS's drive me crazy with waiting until the last minute to pack.....however, last month one DS and DH almost got fooled.....we all got a 24 hour stomach bug the MORNING BEFORE we were leaving (about 28 hours before) One DS got lucky and didn't get it, but, I was all packed so I was OK.
The other two didn't have a thing ready.....and were too sick to even think about it. I even checked with SW later that evening on taking a later flight or even postponing by a day...nothing available....because I thought there is no way they can pack in the morning before we have to leave for the airport. Well, guess what.......DS started to feel better about 3:30 a.m. .....and was packing then....DH got up at 5:00 a.m. and they didn't even forget anything!!!
We were able to leave our house at 9:00 for the airport and surprisingly, everyone was OK, but, those 24 hour bugs can be BAD.

I am from Pennsylvania, I live in Florida now. Florida cold is much different than "up North" cold because of the humidity. The cold cuts right to your bones. I swear 50 degrees in Florida is as bad or worse as low 40s/high 30s in PA. That said we were at MGM last Saturday where it was like 39 degrees in the morning when we left the house. The key is layers.

I just pulled up the weather before signing on to the boards and it is such a toss- We arrive saturday morning from Philly (which has been unseasonably warm with highs near 60) but in MCO it says it will be up to 80 by tuesday (of course the night we leave!!!!). I guess you all are right- pack a variety of stuff. I just got some sweats that are totally comfy but are mesh so they breath. Maybe that will be saturday attire instead of jeans.

BUT I JUST PAID $50 for tanning so I would have a base coat when I went down. BLAH!!!! :confused3

I just checked the weather for Sunday when we arrive
Home = 28 High/19 Low
WDW = 66 High/50 Low

looks like rain/wintry mess all week at home too and at least some sun :sunny: at WDW

We are down at WDW right now and the weather has been crazy. Over this past weekend, we were in winter coats and stocking caps for viewing the last of the Osborne Lights. BUT all this week, we have been in shorts and tee shirts. Yes, it is suppose to get colder this weekend but not as bad as it was last weekend. But like they say, as long as you are at WDW who cares what the weather is as long as you are with Mickey.

Anybody heading this way definately needs to be prepared for any kind of weather cause it goes from one extreme to another quickly. Layers are also important 'cause it will be cold in the morning, warm during the day and cold again once the sun sets.

Oh yeah, we will all have jeans to wear. But I thought if it was more humid you felt warmer? Oh well, we will have clothes to cover just about everything. :)

I think that more humid means you feel the extremes more, whichever direction. In other words, hot humid weather feels hotter than hot dry weather, and cold humid feels colder than cold dry.

Yep, exactly. ::yes::

Today in Massachusetts it's supposed to be mid to upper 50's. Sunday they are calling for 20's with wind chills in the single digits and some snow flurries. Our flight leaves at 6:25am on Sunday. I'll take 60's at WDW over 20's at home any day!

As soon as I check in online for our flights, I'm off to pack :cool1:

we have friends that were at WDW last weekend and said it was COLD... colder than what is forecast for this weekend, I think. We were hoping that the really warm weather would hold through this weekend, but it looks like that really isn't going to happen :(

One thing to think about for Saturday is the wind. It's supposed to be quite windy, which will make 60-65 feel much cooler. Tomorrow & SUnday look good, though. I think Saturday will be pretty, but blustery, LOL

For my 3-day weekend, I'm packing:

1 pair of shorts
1 pair of capris
one sweatsuit type outfit (hoodie & pants)
an additional sweatshirt & a few L/S t-shirts.
and other essentials like PJs, etc ;)

England Sunday - Chance of a couple of showers Low 37°F

Wearing Jeans and jumper as i write , quite windy but dry, pretty cold

Orlando Sunday - Sunny; pleasant in the p.m. High: 68° F

England 1st August 2005
Max Temperature 69 °F / 20 °C
Min Temperature 57 °F / 13 °C

Guess I'll be bringing shorts and T's this is the equivalent of a hot summers day for us in the UK so we'll be the loons who are swimming too :-)

Thanks for explaining that. It makes sense.

It is crazy here in MA. We had 55 degrees yesterday, which is very high for January. Thanks god since last months heating bill was like 400 bucks. It is going to be cold this weekend, but then up in the 40s and 50s next week again. It has been a crazy weather year and I am planning for anything in FL!

We arrived Jan 2 to 81 degrees and were hot for the next 3 days. We didn't wear hoodies until Thursday evening and then Frid Jan 6 and Jan7. The rest of the week was beautiful.

as long as it's :sunny: I don't care!! LOL

I'm packing shorts, capris, and pair of jeans for this weekend. I have a feeling that Sunday will get chilly real quick as the sun goes down. I think it's also supposed to be breezy as well. I've got a sweatshirt on my packing list, too. I guess we're going to have to rent a locker since I won't have a stroller this trip to lug all the stuff around in, LOL

Much harder to pack for January than October ;)

I ended up wearing a little bit of everything this past weekend--we arrived Friday and it was warm and humid. Saturday was windy and COLD. it was clear as a bell--beautiful, suuny skies. Yesterday started cool and warmed quickly. a perfect disney day :sunny: today was going to be glorious, too.

I just saw that. Oh well, still T-shirt weather when your coming from 20s-30s.

That's what I thought (I live in the Boston area) before I visited last week, but last Saturday (14 January) with the colder temperatures and brisk wind, it was quite cold. We wore coats all day and Sunday was only a bit better. We would have been freezing in short sleeved shirts and shorts.
