This Time I'll Be Soooo Out of My Element!

I'm a seasoned WDW vet, but as the kids have gotten older our trips are fewer and further between...

DH has a conference off-site and May, and since it's over my birthday, he knew he better bring the family along!

I'm kind of nervous and agitated though...There will be so many things different that my head is spinning and I'm not as excited as usual.

We are staying kind-of off-site : Hilton DTD
We are spending a day at Universal (meeting old friends there)
We are renting a car (can't depend on Hilton transportation)
DH will miss several days of park hopping
We will hit a waterpark for the first time ever at WDW!
I've only made 3 ADRs, and can't commit to more because the teens want more flexibility and can handle more CS.


I'm just worried about "losing the magic" with the time out of park/driving/all the rest. We are usually a "Total Immersion" family.

Please give me hope and encouragement...

Hey fellow Hoosier! We made a similar kind of trip a few years ago - an it WAS different - but it was still Disney. Even though you'll be in the Hotel Plaza, you can still have a wonderful time. We've stayed there before, and while the bus schedules ARE a bit different, and they don't get you as close to the park entrances as the regular WDW busses do - it's still the total evironment thing going for you. Relax and just let the Disney magic work it's wonders. Each time we returned back to the WDW property (the Hotel Plaza is still part of the resort, after all, we just smiled and were happy to be there.

Don't stress about your DH's schedule - and I'll be you'll still have a good time. ENJOY the water park...which one are you going to? We've been to both - and as of our last trip, the entire family said Blizzard Bch is our favorite. My DD even loved the ski lift to the top, and we ended up having to do it a 2nd time, since all 5 of us liked it.
