This Promo Has Me Down

Thank you for your opinion! We're in MA too. :) I was just looking forward to the "tropical" feel of the Poly, because being from MA , we see a lot of pine trees and camping stuff. KWIM? And BC, although beautiful, is sort of themed after Cape Cod/Martha's Vinyard (where we spend a lot of time) Poly's atmosphere is so very different from what I'm used to around here..palm trees and all...

But don't get me wrong, both resorts do look beautiful.

YES I KWYM but I think you would be surprised at what the resort is really like! This is NOT EVEN CLOSE to a camping feel...that would be next door at Fort Wilderness! Since we both live in MA. we are used to pine trees and Cape Cod..I live on the Cape during the summer in a campground!! (lol) That being said, BC does not do much for me since I live in the Cape but WL is just breath taking! You will not feel like you are in the woods...really! There is a beach there are well. Do a little poking around to see photos...you may decide it is worth changing! I know I would not hesitate for a moment to switch to WL!

Good luck no matter what u decide!

If your heart is set on Poly and you don't plan on going back soon (we didn't either :) ) I say stay with what you have. Yes, it is a lot of money to save, but yo wouldn't have saved it had the offer never been extended and why give up what you really want when you were initially ready to pay the amount anyway. I know I would have a hard sell to change resorts to save money. Good luck in whatever you decide and have a great trip.

on a side note, Mass vacation week JetBlue airfares are crazy in and out of MCO. Not sure what other carriers are doing, so good luck there too.

I've been trying to get Pop or Port Orleans via online for like Jan 4-11 or 5-12 and I can't get anything. I just get the choice of the Fort Wilderness Cabins or Old Key West Resort or All Star Sports, I am sad =(.

I just upgraded from CSR to Poly using the deal and had no problem- even during President's week, Feb. 13 to Feb. 20.

I wonder if they just happened to have rooms available then?

As people have said, keep checking online. You never know if someone will have to cancel a Poly reservation. Also, I would check out other deluxes: I know you want the Poly but if you can get another deluxe for a great amount of savings, I think I would change.

I understand your frustration, even if I did get lucky.

Well, half way lucky.

We have two joint reservations at the CR, tower. I was able to redo one with the exact same specs, but not the other.

That said, I would have just rebooked somewhere else (especially Wilderness Lodge), if my in-laws were not dead set on being in the tower.

I will definitely keep checking, but I don't expect miracles.

I didn't see the Yacht Club available for my dates. Do the Beach Club and Yacht Club resorts share a pool?

Yes, they do share a pool and given your children's ages, I think the BC would be a good choice.

The downside is that you are not on the monorail; however you are within walking distance of bot EPCOT and DHS. I think the Polynesian has the Beach Club beat as far as theming goes; however, the EPCOT resorts have a certain 'energy' that the MK resorts lack. At YC/BC/BW you are right in the middle of all the action and you have many more dining and entertainment options within walking distance. Also, the entire area is breathtakingly beautiful at night.

Take a look at the YC/BC picture thread. That will help give you a 'feel' for the resort although pictures do not really do it justice.

I was able to get Poly garden view concierge yesterday around 6:30pm for April 8-15 for 2 adults, 1-10yo, 1-7yo, and 1-3yo with 1 day base tickets (we have dvcmember ap's) for 3349.41. I hadn't seen anything about blackout dates when I called but it's up on the website ok. If I'm not mistaken the rack rate for the room and 1 day base tix would've been around 5734 so a great savings----of course, we're now outlaying more cash as opposed to using our dvc points but I can't pass on a bargain at the Poly!:rotfl2:

We originally had the same room booked over Easter weekend (fri and sat nights) to save on our dvc points but decided to take advantage of this offer and just cancel our dvc reservations for before and after and save the points for next year.

Keep checking, you never know what you'll find.:)

FYI....right at 5pm yesterday i logged onto the website and got CR for 4/16 -4/23 with the promo. HUGE DEAL..... I was playing around today on the website again and there WAS availablity for a theme park view at the Poly with the code, so I would keep checking around......good luck and have a great time.... :flower3:

I think a room just needs to open up.

AKL CL was booked solid for our time. A room opened up and we could apply the new discount. We saved $1600! So we added on another day and meal plan. And still saved $1000!!!

Keep trying. You may need to make some calls yourself because your TA mightn not be able to call as often as you need to. For what its worth, we are from CT and while the Poly is my favoite because of the theme, my kids and husband both like the Wilderness Lodge better. Its a beautiful resort and I don't think I could pay the price difference for the Poly again.

Thank you all for your advice and opinions. I really do appreciate it. I'm in the process of playing email tag with my TA right now.

I was going to add that same thought in my last post but forgot! My dh and 2 ds's LOVE WL....it is their favorite as well!

I just have to say that yesterday numerous times I kept going on line to make sure my LV & TPV rooms at the Poly were still available because I hadn't heard from my TA yet. Last night I finally hear that CRO is telling her it isn't available, so while emailing her I pulled it up online that it was available. It took her a good 20-30 mins on the phone with Disney to get it straightened out, but they finally got it right. But it was only on my insistance that it was available online that they kept working on it.
Good luck :wizard:

What a roller coaster ride this has been!

I have been emailing my TA asking her questions regarding how availability is determined for this promotion. She explained that when Disney releases a promotion they only release a set number of rooms at any given resort for any given date. They generally base it on the availability at the resort, and which they may need to fill. Sort of like airlines with pricing for specials...while a seat is available, it's not available at the promotional rate because they are either already gone, or they didn't offer it on that particular flight.

So she said that while I had a reservation at the resort already, the promotional offer is not available to be applied to it at the resort. She said that Beach Club was available and after careful consideration, and because the savings was so substantial I told her to switch me over. I just couldn't justify staying at the Poly but paying thousands more, and the Beach Club looked like a lovely resort with a great pool. I told her to email me when she made the change, but I hadn't heard back from her all last night.

This morning I awake to her email stating that when she went to make the change, the Poly was available for my dates! She was able to apply the code and saved me $1500.00!

When I kept checking online, the Poly still showed for me as unavailable. I don't know how she did it but.... WooHoo! :yay:

WOO HOO!!!! You will love the Poly even more now! ;)

During the last rounds of discounts for the fall, the CM explained to me that there is different availability online v. on their computers. So, if it shows up online, but not on their computers, you might want to book online. If it doesn't show up online, it's worth calling to check to see if it is available via phone.

For sure! I booked our flights on SW when their dates were released on Thurs. and even though I got the lowest fares they were offering, they weren't all that low. So this helps tremendously! I still can't believe it worked out for us. It's like a dream. :cloud9:

To all that posted friendly advice and support.... :thanks:

sm04-- what great news! The other thing to think of is that many people may have placed holds the other night and then let them go. I placed a hold for my aunt and uncle at the WL in January, but after talking with my aunt that night, we decided with the 4/3, the Poly was the place to go. Booked them online that night and had the TA release the hold last night. I bet there will be various rooms opening still, but how nice for you that it already worked!! Have a great trip to the Poly! It's such a wonderful place to stay! We'll just miss you by a day ;)

Thank you! I think the worst part of it all, truthfully, was that I felt so helpless. I was "in the know" thanks to this wonderful board, and was online the minute the promo was released, but couldn't do anything to my reservation b/c I booked through a TA. My hands were tied. Not that I would've had any better luck necessarily, but at least I'd be in control. KWIM? But all is well. :)
