i just listened to last weeks podcast - and by the way, Kevin i TOTALLY agree with you about harry potter (and i laughed so hard i almost fell off the treadmill - Kevin, you are soooooooooo funny...you always make me laugh)..

anyway....getting to my question...

about renting DVC points (mentioned in the podcast)..

could someone explain it to me?

i think it was Kevin who said points could now be rented for about $10 per point...but how many points do i need?

for example, let's say i want to stay at OKW in a 2 BR villa for a week...
how many points would that be?

i apologize if this has already been asked, but i've never really grasped the whole DVC point system concept... i know, i'm a bit slow (and i won't even mention what my degrees are in, it will be even more embarrassing  )

thanks in advance!!

The simple answer is 218 pts during low cost Adventure season up to 405 pts for high cost Premiere season. $2,180 up to $4,050 assuming $10 per pt. You also have to find a DVC member you trust, willing to rent to you.

You might want to make your way over to the renters board and investigate further.

Better to ask this over in the DVC Planning forum...

Points cost vary from week to week, day to day, resort to resort, and size room to size room. Friday and Saturday night stays are much more expensive-most dvc'ers (like me) arrive on sunday and leave on friday.

The easiest way to rent points is to just ask on the rent/trade board over there for what you'd like and see if someone can get a reservation for you. Use a contract and deal with somebody who has been on the dis for a while (not me, though, I have no points to rent you because I spend them all in disney :yay:). Don't rent from someone who's earning their ears.

Read a lot before you rent. We rented before we bought and had no problems .

My suggestion is to get a better idea of what # of points you will need by using the points charts and calculators on the DVC section of WDWInfo. You can generally assume $10 per point to give you an idea of "room rates" and just remember since you are renting from a person there are no taxes :thumbsup2

I rented points last year and REALLY enjoyed it. Deluxe accommodations at moderate prices (for studios). I am looking in to renting again in October for a last minute trip for DF birthday. Good luck!

thanks - while that seems expensive at first glance, if memory services, it's less than paying for it the standard way (certainly less than rack rates)...
of course, finding someone you trust probably isn't all that easy (i tend to be overly suspicious)..

that's an interesting thing to do - rent before buying....i have to head over to the DVC boards to read up on the whole process...

Here is all the info you need, and the people on the DVC board can help you out too--

Click on the points calculator and it will tell you exactly what you'll need.
