We were at Cape May when a child of about 3 was climbing on the back of our chairs and setting in the chairs that were not accupied at our table. I over heard the father say should we not make him set down. The wife replied these people in here have been going all day they are just relaxing they don't care. Well I did care, realy runied my dinner.

at the risk of being flamed . I am a mother not only to my own 2 kids who are now 18 and 20 but also to my 6 yr old nephew . All of them have been taken to WDW . When I go now I really think that some people have no control over little ones . I would have asked the parents to remove thier child from my table : (

I have been moved from airline seats because of kids kicking my seat . I love children and I believe that they all have thier times when they can sit still or behave BUT when they are not mine i want no part of those times LOL

I swear this is the truth .... sometimes I growl at them and it scares them away LOL

Um.... I am by no means uptight but I would have had something to say about it. Believe Me! :sad2:

Oh man, I would have picked the kid up and 'returned' him.

i would have gone to the parents table ad asked them to retrieve their child! That would have ruined my dinner too!! i have 2 kids of my own, i don't need another :)

Yes - those parents were wrong. Why did you choose not to talk to them and ask them to keep their child at their own table?

I agree with all of you. Actually the parent of the child made a true statement, all of the people in the restaurant probably had been going all day and they were relaxing and it is hard to do that with somebody's kid climbing all over your chair and the chairs at your table.

Oh yea, I would have said, "Yea, I do care, please remove your uncontrollable brat from my table."

And I have an 8 yo who does know better and a 2 yo who sometimes doesn't, but I would never let her do something like that.

OP....WTH....why are some parents just so oblivious (ignorant) to allow this behavior from their child???? If they can be so BOLD to allow their child to climb all over your chairs and basically intrude on your meal...then by all means simply ask them to:

"Please, would you come and get your child?"

I am more with CASS on this one.

I guess I should have said something. In a way they were right I was to tired to deal with it. I love kids we have 3.

I would have said something like: If he stayes here any longer then I get to claim him on my Income tax................LOL. Now I have to say that is a very first for me. You had more class than I would have that is for sure.

Inappropriate, totally...

I think I would have called over the person waiting on my table, asked them to deal with it, and if they did not, asked them to bring over the Manager and have him handle it....

One more thing here, I do love children and have been known to smile at them at the next table or wave.. I am not sure what I would have done had I engaged this child with smiles or waves and then he/she decided to come and sit at my table and climb all over my chairs.....Hmmm, I might have to rethink the being friendly with children at WDW thing.. Yikes..

This is the point when I would have turned and said, "Yes we do care and do make him sit down." At which point DH would have left the meal. :rotfl:

You should have had the child removed. If you are not into confrontations (like me) your server could have said something. You should have charged the parents at least $50 for babysitting :rotfl2:

I'd have spoken to the parents and asked them to take the child back.
Otherwise as stated elsewhere inform the management :)

Absolutely! Where the heck was the restaurant staff? I would have asked the waitress and probably the manager to deal with this immediately and hope the dopes were given thier meal to go!

I guess they figure their kid is so cute people won't mind the visit.

t's the same with people that let their kids stand on plane seats (the whole fliight) and look back at you - they think is adorable that their child is playing peeky-boo with the people behind, but it is as annoying as hell LOL

I was NEVER allowed to get up from my chair... so it drives me nuts when kids are under a table at a restaurant and the parents don't do anything... I would have been removed from the establishment. I Can't even fathom having them climbing on my chair and sitting at my table. I too would have said something, probably a little sarcastic to get the point across and then much like mickeyfan2 said, DH would have left in emarassment :) That is absolutely unacceptable behavior from the parents, the child on the other hand probably doesn't know any better.

Cape May NJ? we were there at the end of August. But honestly it wasn't my child.... :) My youngest is 10 and he's lucky if he is allowed to get up to use the bathroom!
I think if i was in you situation i would have taken the child by the hand and walked him or her back to their parents table and said something about the possibilty of the child getting hurt. That way, the parents would have been embarrassed because i would have drawn attention by getting up and walking over to the parents table. And all the other " relaxing" ppl would know that it wasn't MY child that wasn't controlled.
