I decided to google a few things, trusting that if hanname made it onto google, that surely Greenban would have.

YESYESYES

So then I decided to google Tooneric

These days it seems that any ole toon can make it in googleland.

So then I decided to google ME...and there I was on google, profile, hanname and all. Good grief. I once googled my own REAL name and found out that I was an artist, a musician, and an agitator for a militant group. So I changed my name to CB1 little knowing that I would still be fodder for the googlemill.

How does google decide on these things?
BTW, RAsh....you aren't there, guess they don't want no stinkin horses!

I tried this a couple of weeks ago when we first realized hanname made Google. idratherbeinwdw is definitely google-able, lots of my DVC posts are there.

I have googled my real name and removed it because there was a map attached that would take you directly to my house

However, I will google lllovell and see what comes up. (been using it for a years now, so I am betting multiple listings)

I hate to be the bearer of bad tidings, but if you're listed in the phone book anyone can look up your name and use mapquest to find your house. If you're unlisted it's harder. But if the person searching knows your last name and REALLY wants to find you there are plenty of sites that, for $29.95 will use public records (ie motor vehicle records) to find your address and/or phone number and once armed with that info anyone can use mapquest to find you. Agreed that Google makes it REALLY easy, but with a little determination most anyone can be found if they have your complete name. If your last name is common they may also need a general idea of your age and/or where you live, but most anyone can be "found" if the desire is there.

Just ask Greenban! (didn't even need to spend $$ to find him, found him on my own with a huge boost of help from Calypso)

True true! But any stalker worth a flip really needs to work hard to corner me...unless they are equine in variety, then I believe the term might be pin.

That said, my phone number is unlisted (and its still in my name even thought hubby and I have been married for over 10 years now) and I KNOW its incredibly easy still to find me. Of course *batting eyelashes*, if MAR ever asks, I would NEVER deny you that info.
