This might be anti-vacation, but any healthy food recommendations?

I was on the QS plan for 2 weeks and found it very easy to eat healthy for the entire duration. I did choose fries twice and ate about 5 of them, but again that was my choice they would have subbed fruit for them. I had one salad that was absolutely horrid...I'm a recent lapband patient so I was careful with my choices. Steer clear of the taco salad from Pecos Bill...the chicken wrap with no dressing was a good choice there.
I had salads from wolfgang puck, deli sandwiches from starring rolls, sandwich and soup in Norway, Sandwiches from the Boardwalk bakery, salads at most CS places in each park, a salad at earl of sandwich, steer clear of the ceasar salad at sunshine seasons as well all dressing and very little greens, though the chicken was good. THe salmon at Sunshine seasons was good. I lost 4 pounds and I never felt hungry so I guess I did ok. I did sub water for most desserts, but did enjoy one sixth of a few cupcakes from starring rolls and a bite or two of peanut butter cake from the boardwalk bakery. I also had two ice cream cones.

I like the places like Sunshine Seasons that serve rotisserie chicken, carrots, and mashed potatoes. This is great comfort food that is on the healthy side compared to all the fried stuff.

I also got in the habit of grabbing carrots/celery at the food court at POR in the mornings. I brought little "to go" cups of Jif peanut butter and packs of raisins from home. Made my own snack of "ants on a log" (celery/peanut butter/raisins) -- hello, summer camp snack! Between that and the carrots, I felt like I was getting tons of fruits and veggies during the day, plus a little protein with the peanut butter.

Also grabbed packets of apple slices -- great with peanut butter, too. Most of the parks have a stand or CS restaurant that sells fruit/veggies.

. I did sub water for most desserts, .

They let you sub water (bottled water) for desserts without any extra cost?
Did you just have to ask if you could substitute it?

You LOST 4 pounds??? I've never gained weight, but NEVER lost weight! Good job!

My sister-in-law lost 6 pounds on her 10 day WDW vacation in April! I think this was largely due to the fact that she doesn't exercise normally and she was not on any dining plan and didn't want to spend too much $ on food. :)

I have ordered the adult (me, DW) main entree and have swapped the adult veggies topped with sauce with raw carrots & celery from the kids menu.

Examples:

Cndy's lunch
Adult entree Herb-Crusted Pork Tenderloin - OMIT the mustard cheese grits, cabernet sauce and crispy onins
ADD from the kids menu -> fresh fruit and/or garden salad (no dressing)

LTT lunch
Adult entree Pilgrims' Feast - traditional roast turkey OMIT gravy, herb bread dressing and mashed potatoes and KEEP a garden vegetable
Add from the kids menu -> sliced apples
Dessert = Seasonal No Sugar Added Sorbet with berries
or kids menu dessert = fruit cup (if in no sugar liquid)

Coral Reef lunch
Seared Chicken Breast - OMIT spaetzle finished with Applewood smoked bacon - chicken broth
Add from the kids meu -> Celery and Carrot Sticks
Dessert = kids menu fruit cup (if in no sugar liquid)
maybe adult No Sugar Added Cheesecake - topped with fresh strawberries

The option costs less for WDW and healthier for me.

I get a baked potatoe when I can with no butter or sour cream.

Fruit carts are wonderful for a snack instead of an ice cream and can be just as refreshing.

Water, water, water - Can I say more? :rotfl:

We always start our day at WDW with oatmeal for breakfast. We like it and feel that it helps to have that one meal a day be a healthier option.

I like bringing original instant oatmeal (no sugar) and using the hot water made from the 'coffee' pot. Then I bring dried fruits and nuts and sprinkle them on. And we always get a big thing of milk too for the fridge so I'll put some milk in there too - yum and starts the day off right! (for those cookies to come :lmao:)
