What do I do about my license? I'm assuming it should be ok...but do I need to change it to a Florida license? I'm planning on doing the advantage and then hopefully extending. Since I'll be down there for a considerable amount of time...do I need to change my license to a Florida one or is it ok to keep your license? I've never lived in a different state...so I'm not sure if that's something that people do...even if they are only there for a short amount of time.

I'd think if your moving there to stay yeah, but for a short time I wouldn't think so.

Which reminds me, I need to renew mine after my trip in March:goodvibes

Unless you are taking up a permanent address in FL, you don't need a FL license, or one in any other state.

In fact, I just spent a year living and working in Germany and I didn't have to have a German license to drive there... :)

Hope that helps...

A girl that worked with me during my CP (another CPer) got pulled over by the cops and was told she'd need to get a Florida Driver's License if you were there for 5-6 months I think. I'm not 100% sure though.

I repeat: Unless your PERMANENT LEGAL ADDRESS is being switched to FL, you do not need to get a FL driver's license. If you are relocating to FL, permanently, and switching your legal address (likely your parents' address if you're still in uni) to FL, than yes, she would need to get a FL driver's license, license plates, insurance, etc.

If you go to school out-of-state, being on the CP, is no different. You just have a secondary address.

I understand this might be confusing, but my legal address is still my mother's, even though I have never actually lived there. She moved 2 weeks before I graduated high school, and my legal address changed then. Since then, I have lived in WV for 4.5 years at WVU, FL for the CP, and Germany for a year, but I have never legally had to switch everything over.

I move back to FL this Friday, this will be a permanent, legal move. And, therefore, I should establish FL residency within 6 months.

I am absolutely certain on this, so I hope this will clear up any confusion for you guys :)

I've moved a lot...almost 20 times in the past 6.5 years, so I've definitely looked into it all...
