I called the AAA travel agency and she gave me a quote that was the EXACT quote that disney.com gave me without a discount. Why is that? Did the agent just screw up? I think I'll just book through CRO and get the AAA discount that way.

Man, this is the same problem I had back in January. :confused3 Sorry this happened to you too! For some reason, the Disney computers are not showing the discounts, and many AAA agents are not questioning the totals being given to them and are giving quotes as if they show the discount.

If you're just wanting a room-only reservation, I would call Disney or another travel agent directly and book the AAA discount (if it's available). If you're wanting to add dining to a MYW package, you generally need to book through AAA.

You can also call a different AAA travel agent if you have trouble with your local office.

Hope this helps!

I got a quote on a package with dining that did not reflect the AAA discount. The agent was told by Disney that the quote was with the discount. It was easily corrected when she called Disney to check.

I think it's exactly like WDWBetsy says -- the agents do not double check the price. And honestly, why should they have to? It's really too bad that Disney is messing this up!

I also think it's probably easier for us at home to check quotes against the Disney website. I kind of doubt that most travel agents have internet access at work, or time to look things up if they do.

My current AAA agent had me on one line and Disney on the other, and when she gave me a quote, I kept questioning it - and finally got it down to within a couple bucks of what I was expecting.

Quite a hassle, but well worth it for the dining and $268 AAA discount I saved. :cool1:

This happened to me just last night!

When I called about a AAA discount, I realized it was the same as quoted on Disney's website for the resort I was looking at :confused3

I would. If your quote is similar to what you can pull up on the Disney website with the same features/options, then they might not have your discount figured in there. I kept getting a quote higher than the Disney site.

They should adjust it if it's wrong - based on your countdown, you have plenty of time so you wouldn't be penalized anyway for changes. Just be very friendly when you question the agent. I would say, "You know, I was putting in the same request on the Disney online booking, and the quote you gave me was similar/more than that. Could you please check to see if the Magical Moments (AAA) discount is on there?" :earsgirl:

Hope this helps. I went round and round with my original local agent who told me, "Maybe you should go ahead and book the online one since it's cheaper." NOT!

Wow I can't believe this is STILL a problem!! Same thing happened to me and my local agent obviously thought I was some kind of nut who wanted something for NOTHING. I finally booked with an out of state agent who took me seriously. Good luck!! Stick to your guns.... eventually someone will do it right!

ncbyrne,

I found your other post showing when you're booked:

"2 adults, 2 - 7 day expiring hoppers, 8 nights CSR, My Way Dining option and insurance: $2357.12 We booked it at the AAA office here in town" and input the same info (I think you have a king bed reserved based on another post I saw), coming up with a disneyworld.com total of $2,598.94 including insurance. Since you're in regular season, the amount you were quoted does sound like there's a AAA discount in there.

This happened to me also. Apparently there is a "code" that the AAA agent has to enter to get the discount. I had a very inexperienced AAA TA; seemed I knew more than she did, LOL. I had to call about something else one day when my agent was off, and lo and behold I got the Disney Specialist TA there who knew exactly what I was talking about. From now on I'll only ask for her.

I went thru AAA on line and asked for a quote and it came back the same as the Disney website. I then called Disney myself and asked for a room only ressie and was quoted $99 a nite..I then asked them to use my AAA discount and it was reduced to $84 a nite. This is the downside of calling and using AAA discount, it can only be for room rates only, not on apackage deal. This will have to be done thru your AAA agent, if they do it correct.

I lucked out an have a very experienced AAA TA, and have absolutely no problems whatsoever, this is my second time booked through them. Hey, if anyone wants my TA's number let me know, I've already given it to one other DIS member.

I booked my vacation through Dreams Unlimited and my agent (Sue Ellen, she's the best :) ) booked my vacation for me with my AAA discount. THey also book your PS's for you, which is quite convenient, even though I ended up wanting to do them first since this is my honeymoon, and I wanted the experience.

A couple of years ago I was planning a spring break trip to Disneyland. I had heard that AAA had some great deals on park hopper tickets (5 days for the price of 3). I started calling my local AAA office right after New Years and was told that Texas AAA had not made its "deal" with Disney for the year yet. I kept calling all through January and they still hadn't made their deal yet and had no tickets to sell. Finally, in early Feb. I called a AAA office in California and got the tickets.

What I learned is that with AAA, every state (or perhaps region in the case of smaller states) makes its own deal with Disney and so some state's AAA offer different/better deals than others.

Same thing happened to me last week. I had contacted AAA for a room only reservation and they quoted me rack rate. I called CRO and asked for the AAA rate and it was 20% off at POP in December during value season. Now why can Disney give me a better deal with AAA than AAA can? Strange, and pretty dumb too.

I think it's because AAA agents have to go through a special department/center (something like Disney AAA Vacations) to get their quotes either online or on the phone, and for some dumb reason the computer system is not calculating in the discounts. Many of the agents are not questioning what they're being given, so that's not helping.

WDWBesty - Thank you so much for taking the time! It's encouraging to know that I did indeed get the discount!
