I'm just whining, feel free to ignore.

So, went to FW in 2007 and I feel in love! Unfortunately, the economy fell in the toilet. I waited patiently. 2011 was to be our turn to go back. Notice that ginormous flippin' ticker in my sig? :sad1: Yeah, it stinks. We just can't do it. DH's job has had some crazy ups and downs this past year. He got promoted! :) Then they eliminated the position. THREE WEEKS LATER! He went back to his previous position. Don't even ask what happen to the guy that was his temporary replacement.:sad2:

So, here I am. Forever from the Fort. Our kids are getting bigger. DH and I have decided, we will do whatever it takes to go back in 2012. This year we are making the responsible decision. So, we'll save. Next year, Finally!

I am sorry about the delay, but you are so smart to save and return when the time is right. You will enjoy the trip so much more knowing that you aren't taking on debt and extending yourself beyond your comfort zone. Feel good about that.

The Fort will still be there in 2012, and you will still get the trip in before the world comes to an end in December that year. :lmao:

We're retiring in sept 2012 and my wife says if the world comes to an end...she's going to be pissed! hahaha

In 41 days we make our resies for Nov 2011. We will do the same in 2012 for Nov 2013. If I make payments till Dec 2012 and the world comes to an end that will make two of us pissed! :) Ps, just keep your eye on the prize and you will be there before you know it.

Who knows, maybe something will still work out for 2011. You can always keep your reservations and then cancel is something doesn't work out. That's what we did and things turned around and we were able to go. Just a thought. Good Luck.

we plan on going every 2 years. we book thru AAA as soon as the new rates for the following year come out. we have the whole year to pay for our trip. we have saved our change for a year to pay for gas, 600.00 driving from jersey in the big gas guzzling durango!!, got the free dining, and renting a cart off site. it is a struggle sometimes to pay but somehow we manage. we almost booked POR this time, but we love the cabins so much and it is so much easier with my daughter in the wheelchair, i just couldnt bring myself to booking any other resort! keep saving, the waiting will be worth it. get a HUGE jug and start throwing your change in it. you would be suprised how much you can save over a year.

Maybe you can try what we do. We have the Disney Visa card and use it just like a debit. We use it for everything we can..groceries, car insurance, Walmart, property taxes (and living in NJ that is a HUGE amount). We use the card exactly like our checking account and we make sure we pay it completely off BEFORE the due date, so we pay NO interest. We ONLY put purchases on the card that will be paid off right away. Use it like you do cash or your debit. You get $1 Disney dollar for every $100 put on the card. So far, in less than a year we have earned over $400+ Disney dollars and plan to have more than enough to pay for our 9 night stay next time down. It takes some extra time and effort to make sure I sit down and monitor the account and pay it on time but it is certainly worth the end result..A trip to the Fort! :cool1:

We always spend the week before Christmas in the Fort and head home around the 18th or 19th of December. I told DH in 2012 our trip will be 2 weeks... planning to stay over Christmas. If the world ends on Dec. 20th or 21st or whatever, then I will be at Disney. :)

Doesn't matter if the world ends tomorrow, 2012 or 2054...I'm going to be working till I die anyway!

If the world ends in 2012 I'd consider it early retirement cause I'm going to be working till I die anyway!

Ugh. I'm sorry for the turmoil...and the postponed vacay! We try to go every three years. For some reason, I was convinced this was the third year, and I was PSYCHED!

...until I realized it was only the second year. :sad1: Boo. So I know a little of what you're feeling. There's no way we can swing it this year.

Hope your visit is here before you know it! In the meantime, I get my fix here on the boards...

The economy STINKS!! We are fortunate enough that DH has been quite busy at work. (Knock on wood) We also have the Dinsey Visa and use it much like that. Only use it for what we can pay off each month. We just used our $400 a few years ago and wish now that we hadn't. We just used it on junk. It lasted about 2 years of Birthday's X-mases and other holidays. Don't know why we didn't save it for the world:confused3 Anway we have accumulated $200 more and don't plan to use it quite yet on this trip.
Oh and if the world ends I can't think of a better place to be than Disney! I'm in!:rotfl:
