I walk into TRU to return a Lego set I got a TON cheaper ($40!!) on disneystore.com today with the code. I do my return, and get my almost $80 credited back to my card and then walk over to look at some other things (mind you, I'm in full-fledged Christmas shopping mode, but totally just intending to look).

I walk out with that new Wii Spyro game and a ton of figures because they were b2g1 and if I spent a $100, I would get a free figure later. So, I spend $120 with all the taxes.

So, I walk out $40 poorer than when I walked in...:laughing:However, another gift is checked off the list, and I'm getting closer to being done.

And this, my friends, is why I always have my husband do my returns.:lmao:
Anyone else do things like this?

Not me. I returned a toy to Toys R Us yesterday. I had found it cheaper elsewhere. I walked through the store shocked at how much more expensive their things are compared to Target, got disgusted and walked out $17 richer. I rarely ever shop at Toys R Us and now I remember why.

They are, aren't they? Occassionally you can find decent deals on video games, but that's about it. Sometimes when the do a B2G1 free Lego, you can get a good deal with they have "freebies" with a purchase of. I do a ton of math when it comes to those sales, and see if I'm really getting a deal or not. The price on what I bought was the same as the Target special this week, so I figured I'd get it. If I find it cheaper, I'll return it later.

I try to scan things if I can into TRU with the RedLaser app on my phone. Almost always, it is cheaper at Target or Walmart.
Some of the mark-ups on their Legos are ridiculous! Like $10-12 more for a medium sized set! That is insane.

It's the opposite with us! A while back I sent DH to Best Buy to return a $30 item (bad move on my part) and he came back with a $50 video game that cost him "only $20!". Sigh...

Thanks for the reminder about RedLaser. I have that app and I forget to use it. I'm usually crunching numbers on the Legos, too!

Unfortunatley for me, most of the Lego sets DS wants this year are exclusive to Lego.com. Not too many sales to be had on those!

I don't think I'd ever be brave enough to send mine into Best Buy because the same thing would happen. Best Buy or Home Depot are his "weakness" stores.

I :lovestruc RedLaser. It truly is a budget-cruncher's dream.

The only sale I've ever seen Lego.com do is a 10% around Black Friday. :(

This is DH and I. He hates doing returns but knows that it is better for our wallets. I can never return anything without buying something else. and it always costs more. :)

I try to never just "look".

I agree! They had a Bionicle in a clearance section but no price. I know how much these go for at Target. I scanned the bar code on their price checker and it came up $9.99. I went to the regular shelf where all the others were and it was marked $7.99. They can't even keep the scan prices right and they are still more than Target. I shook my head and put it back.

That's me exactly when shopping at Justice.:rotfl:

It takes me 5 minutes to either return something or purchase something. If I am going to the store it is for something specific. I go in, do what I need, and walk out.

My wife on the other hand, takes her an hour and a half and $150 to stop at the store to pick up a pair of socks that are needed.

A good graphical representation of the gender differences in shopping.....

Love this graphic, and I never even noticed before, the red line doesn't even go into The Gap, LOL :goodvibes

But then why would women be going to Sears.. we certainly aren't buying tools or a lawnmower! (the only reason I might even look at Sear is appliances/home and garden)

I tend to stay away from TRU as well. I can't believe the cost of Legos!!! They were so cheap when I was little!

Use the AC moore 40% off coupon and buy there. I remember buying the large Knex roller coasters for 40% off, tons of lego's etc. That is the only way to get a bargain on them (atleast that I have ever seen).

We don't have AC Moore here. :(
I used to go to Border's with my 40% off coupons and bought them there, but alas, Border's is no more.
I think B&N might do some sales on toys...at least I hope so!

:rotfl: that was my first thought too, I never shop at Sears.

Land's End is the only reason I go in to Sears.
