I recently bought BWV points. YAY!

Planning for Dec 2011.

Check in Dec 26, check out Jan 4, 2012

need 2 SV studios or a SV 2 bedroom.

when I call to reserve will I have a better chance with 2 studios?
or the 2 bedroom?

do I call on jan 26 and call again on jan 28 in order to add night 8 and 9?
or do I wait to call on jan 28 in order to book all at once?

TIA for all the knowledge! This place is :worship:

I'm not sure which you'd have a better chance of getting...but the 2br is nice to have with the washer and dryer..... I'd call on 1/26 for the first 7 nights then add the last 2 on 1/28

You may want to "walk" this reservation thru. I would guess that dec 26 may be sold out since people may book a week before you. Do a search on walking a ressie for an explanation.

I also would call on the 26th for the first 7 days then call on the 28th for the last 2 days. I don't think you will have a problem getting either the 2-bedroom or the 2 studios. You should just figure out which you prefer. The 2 bedroom require a significant amount of points more than the 2 studios.

Good luck

I would call and ask for the 2 bedroom first. If it is available, then I would go for that.

Then you only need to call back on the 28th to add the extra two nights.

This is the second time I've seen a reference to people being able to make reservations a week before. How is someone able to do that?

In the old days, members booked their trips based on their checkout day. Lots of members called every day to get one day at a time and link them into one long reservation for tough to get trips (holiday and such). In the past few years it was changed to booking up to seven nights at 11 months from your check in day. So if other members are booking Dec 19 through 25 and seven days forward, they may get all the Dec 26 nights that you need.

That's why some members "walk" their reservation. They start booking seven days ahead, call the next day drop the first day, add the eight day until they get the seven days they need.

Aha! I had read about walking the reservation but hadn't made the full connection. This makes it all clear. Thanks Deb!

I have had no problem getting 11 month reservation for xmas week(at our home resort of OKW 12/26-12/31 this year or the past 5 years that included xmas or NYE). This year we were even able to switch from home resort to AKLV savannah view Jambo house at 7 months for that week. I have never "walked" a reservation and really think it just adds to the work of MS in most cases...exceptions exist, but overall I just don't agree there is such a need for it.

That's good to know, thank you.

They may not be walking a reservation, just starting their vacation a week before you plan to. Many do two week vacations for Christmas. Some book a week before Christmas and a week after. The 11 month mark for a vacation beginning December 17 would book the trip on January 17th versus January 25th.

Some nervous types will walk a vacation starting with Thanksgiving to get Christmas day. Personally I wouldn't want to be calling MS that many times.

I'm going to book on the 26th and hope for the best. I'm going to try for the 2 studios ( cause I'm a point miser ;)) and if I get them. Great! if not...mom and dad will have to pay CA$H.
