This is us..

I know a lot of people that keep weed in their homes. Professional people, business people. People you wouldn't expect. They treat it how people treat a glass of wine.

Clearly, we have a different circle of friends. Perhaps because dh is federal employee and I'm state and most of our friends are also in positions that could get random drug screenings at any time. These professional people are growing it themselves, live in a state where it's allowed or buying it on the street? If I had to buy a bottle of wine from a guy on the street corner, I doubt I'd ever drink again.

No one actually goes on the street corner to buy weed anymore. Lots of people sell it right out of their home. Regular people you would never expect.

I can see never smoking if you have a job that does random screenings.

There are people who smoke weed that I would have never expected. I'm not talking pot heads here. Just recreational users. Same as people who have a few drinks on Friday night.

Funny how the flashback scenes full of cigarette smoking have drawn no objections. Cigarettes cause cancer. Marijuana cures it. Which one should we be concerned about?

My xh is an alcoholic yet thinks people who do weed are horrible. I find it quite comical. He'll probably die of liver disease or a car accident since he's been known to drink and drive. What's the guy smoking weed going to die of? Probably old age.

In regards to the show...with the flash forward to the teen years, it looks like jack did quit drinking.

No, certainly not. I thought her reaction was weird as well. i wrote somewhere earlier that I'm not sure her feeling she's not being heard, and seeming not fulfilled is going somewhere in the story line soon.
She seems exhausting at times. But then again I can see myself in her. :rotfl2:Unfortunately. Although I am way more upfront with my needs, thoughts and emotions.

Jack seems more checked in then a lot of men - as a husband and as a father, so sometimes I want to yell at her "Lord Rebecca what would you do with a crappy husband?". :rotfl:

She most likely wouldn't have married one to begin with. I totally get what you're saying, but honestly her character definitely seems like one who is strong and wouldn't settle for less than what she wanted, which I think is pretty commendable and something I wish I had more of...especially when I was younger.

Lol until I put some feelers out when my mom had cancer, I felt the same way. After that, I felt like I was the only person not smoking pot! I was gifted enough to open my own shop. Successful businessmen, attorneys, high school administrator, hairdresser (that one wasn't surprising)...

Hahaha.. I get mine from a hairdresser!

Who knows. I hope they don't kill him off until like season six..that's not asking too much, is it? LOL
Well technically they already killed him off, because we know he's dead. So even if they show us his death, they bounce all over the place so we could still see him.

Cannabis oil.
My point was that marajuana, in various forms, is effective for pain management and to treat some of the side-effects of chemo. It does NOT cure cancer as the PP stated.

A little OT, but I also really wonder why there have not been more standardized products developed to legitimize and make medical use more convenient, since medicinal use is legal practically everywhere now. Many of us would have a visceral, negative reaction to the idea of buying a bag on the corner and clandestinely smoking it. Not so at all if it was easy to obtain in pill-form, or something similar.

I'm against the cigarette smoking, too. It didn't come up, so I didn't comment on it.

Hi Lisa - I haven't noticed you around for awhile. I hope you've been well. :wave2:

Well I'm in the trenches Annette. I had to take a break on here.

Have now become a 24/7 caregiver of my Mom. She has been declining with Vascular Dementia for many years - probably fifteen if I think back - and needs everything done now but it is an absolute blessing to have her safe. I truly mean that.

Had my father in his home in palliative care, another blessing to have him live out his life at home, having some great times with his loved ones. And my brother died of cancer within three weeks of my father, of cancer as well. After a two year fight full of ups and downs - fear and hope.

So even to put a sentence together in the last couple of years, well quite the challenge!

Thanks for asking.

It wasn't the use of medical marijuana. It was the way the scene played and that Beth already had the stash. But I know that I have hang-ups. ;)

Beth, just wanted to add that I completely understood your position when I wrote, which is why I started off with I wonder if you had an issue with the lightness around it, not the reason for the use.

So I understand fully.

It's not just you. I'm perfectly fine with prescription use for cancer patients, but I was still shocked she just had some in the house.

As for Jack and Rebecca, my guess is that one of them will come really close to cheating, it will prompt them to reinvest in the relationship, and then something will happen to him.

Yeah, I think him forgetting to kiss her goodbye was the first telling sign that they are starting to disconnect. Then when the receptionist straightened up Jacks tie and said something like, "You're wife should have done this" made me think he will step out of the relationship. He looked very uncomfortable, but I think he was uncomfortable because he liked the flirting and was trying to not do anything to be disloyal to Rebecca.

It's sold in all forms, legally and illegally. Lollipops for those with mouth sores, or for children. I think smoking it has the shortest high, which more recreational users prefer. DH bought a brownie in Denver, and said it was different than smoking it (he's not a recreational user, but was way back in the day, and since he was in Denver...)

Sterling K. Brown, Randall, is in Toronto today. I caught one of his interviews early this morning.

A few interesting points -

*the actors know the full plan/storyline
*It is on a board for them to see - he said it helps them convey emotions that they already possess with the back and forth in time
*He said that he lost his own father at ten years old and that has helped him understand a full range of Randall's thoughts and feelings
*Although Sterling was named after his father at birth, he used his middle name for most of his young life. After his father passed he felt the need to go back to Sterling. He relayed this as he was talking about Randall's need to honour who his father was for him, his importance.
*He also mentioned Jack and Rebecca's low point in their marriage. So obviously we are bang on with some of us thinking they are showing a few scenes to highlight what is to come for them.

I completely agree. I too see her as very strong.

And I don't mean this in a pompous way, although it will sound like it, I do see myself in her. Both sides. What you just said and how she is at times hard on Jack. That moment in the stands where he simply couldn't win. I do that to my loved ones.

I was only being flippant because Jack seems to try much harder than most men I have been around. And I love that part of the writing, it is so human. Sometimes our loved ones try so hard and some of us are still not satisfied.

Agree.

I have stated that I think he is attracted to her. And that is truly the reason he struggled with Miguel. I'm not sure he even realized it.

I do think that scene foreshadows some interesting turns for their marriage.

IMO weed is nothing compared to alcohol. Or tobacco. I would rather my kids recreationally do weed than alcohol or tobacco. I've seen alcohol ruin lives and tobacco causing lung cancer.

For some reason I feel like someone cheats between jack and Rebecca. I'm going with jack because I think that work scene leads to something else. Also I feel like Rebecca is checking out so it may be her.

I was thinking it might be her and the guy in the band or someone else she ends up interacting with while doing music.
