This is us..

I was thinking about Milana Vayntrub and can't quite believe how well she's done for herself here. All the way from a Youtube skit artist to a being a major character on one of the most popular shows on network TV. I don't think she's that great of an actress but hats off to her for making something out of nothing.

I took her bad haircut to be a hack job she did herself. Kind of like if she was super mad and upset and did it as a spur of the moment thing in her bathroom lol

I was thinking more like, "the haircut you give yourself when you're in a gas station bathroom and running from your kidnappers". An alleged "known" actress (they claimed she was nominated for a Tony at Kevin's audition) you'd think would have at least hit Supercuts.

Ok, I have been reading some theories on FB about this show and now I am questioning everything about Toby! Bear with me.

Some are saying the whole scene we saw during the mid-season finale where Toby collapses and is rushed to the hospital was in the future. So the scene where he is in the hospital flat-lining has not happened yet. In other words, the show we saw this week was actually BEFORE Christmas. At first, i thought it was crazy, but now I am wondering.

First, when we saw Toby in the operating room, he was in bad shape, being worked on and clearly in deep trouble. Then in the opening show he seems fine, joking, sitting in bed eating, being silly etc. I remember thinking, "wow, he looks good compared to how he looked in the finale."

Then, I remember thinking it was odd that just Kate was at the hospital. If he collapsed like that and was rushed to the hospital, I would think everyone would be there supporting Kate. Where was her mom, her brothers etc. They were all at the Christmas Eve party, so someone would have been there to support Kate. We later see Randall and Kevin, but she said something like, "I called you guys to come here to distract me." It's like she had to ask for them to come, like they were not all just together celebrating Christmas Eve.

I don't know, maybe a few days had passed and we are not seeing the immediate fall out from Christmas Eve, but there are a whole lot of theories that the scene was saw on the finale was foreshadowing, that it is coming up in a future episode. I don't think I believe it, but just thought I would throw it out there. I don't believe it because when he shows up at Randalls house on Christmas Eve everyone was surprised to see him, it was like Kate was seeing him for the first time since their break up. If he had been in town for a while and in the hospital, she would not have been so surprised. I get so confused with time-jumping!

All this skipping around in time is starting to annoy me.

Not to mention her AT&T Commercials. I don't like AT&T or commercials, but I find her very funny in those.

I think time has passed. William has been spending time with (ugh his name is escaping me, Jesse?) and Kevin and Sloan are already working on their play (which I think he just decided to do at Christmas). And yes, showing up at Randalls on Christmas Eve in the future would make no sense, since William was still there, and I think Sloan was there also?

We don't know WHAT that operating room sequence was showing. It could well have been Dr. K's surgery.

Just rewatched a couple of scenes. The Christmas was definitely not the future, Sloan was there, Randall just met Jesse and Randall and Rebecca were still very awkward together.
And the operating room sequence was Toby, they showed his face while he was flatlining and being shocked.
That said, if it was just an arrhythmia at Christmas, would he be in surgery??

The surgery he did have was to repair the hole in his heart. I thought all of the flatlining, etc. we saw wasn't actually Toby, but what Kate was seeing in her stressed condition while waiting for news in the hospital?

Way overthinking. The show may be complicated but it's not THAT complicated. It was a few days after Christmas that's why Kate was alone. He had a blockage, they say while discussing the arrhythmia that he had a stint put in-the surgery scene, there was no flatlining and I don't remember them pumping his chest. She called her brothers to distract her for the second surgery, not the first. I know for myself when it comes to things like that I want to support but I don't want to intrude so I would ask if someone wants me there and/or will show if they ask me to be there.

Oh that? Yeah probably. I mean she had coffee and was asking which room. I'm more inclined to believe that was all in her head and not actually happening.

There was flatlining and paddles, I just rewatched the very end. Not sure why I am digging so hard LOL, I don't buy that theory at all.

Just went back and watched. Wonder why I tuned that out? If he had a stint put in he had a blockage so I could see the paddles. That wasn't a flatline sound though (went and watched AGAIN, lol) those were distress beeps.

I'm watching it for the second time through! The scene where Rebecca sends Jack out for ice cream so she can cry was just heartbreaking.

I loved the proposal and hated what Kevin said to Olivia.

The scene of Jack showing Rebecca the house was cool!

I am far from pregnant (kids 21 and 23) but ever since that scene I have wanted mint choc chip ice cream LOL. I bet I haven't eaten that in 30 years.

I dont think there is any question that it is something that happened in the past....or the scene we saw at the end was the operation he is going into right now....I would assume it is the second, because clearly his arrival at the house on Christmas was the first time her had been to new York

yes....but are we sure that operation is taking place in a hospital in new York....just like in episode 1...we didnt really figure out the hospital was in the 70's till the end

I disagree tio a point....the skipping around allows us to fill in more of the story with context....in other words, it allows scenes in the past to take on greater meaning

I understand it's a matter of personal preference. I'm just starting to get annoyed with it.

Code Black last night had some interesting flashback type scenes and I enjoyed that immensely more. It was a spectacular episode.
