This is Ridiculous *WARNING RANT*

I have a feeling that eventually the novelty of this will wear off. It has only been the second day of this whole thing, and everyone is frantic. I couldn't believe it this morning when I was trying to get to Main Street there was a queue of 86!! But I also don't think this is going to go over very well in the beginning. I think that it is a very cool idea, but the problem is that everyone is so greedy. Everyone is trying to hunt down the new Dreams stuff, but eventually I think most people will grow tired of just sitting around and waiting to see if staff might show up. Personally, I am not doing that because I simply do not have the time to spend hours on the computer. If I win something I will be happy, but I am not going to obsess over it or stalk the staff. I think it is very fair the way they are going about handing out the dreams because it is exactly the same way as in the Parks, however, with the majority of the vmk demographic being children, I don't think they will understand the concept very well. I certainly don't envy the staff or CL_s at the moment, and I could see them just pitching the whole idea and going about it in a totally different way. However, I also feel that in a couple of weeks people are going to get sick of just sitting there. I would anyway. I mean, who has time to sit around when there's credits to be earned for Halloween!! :p lol.

My take on this? Things from the park don't always translate well in the game.

When something is an unexpected treat, it's a pleasant surprise. There's enough real-life distraction at the parks to keep even folks who are aware of the promotion accupied, so winning does not become the primary focus.

But when you have thousands of VMK players who (a) know there are prizes being handed out, and (b) are trained to want rare things in the game, expecting them to go about their business as usual is like telling them not to think about pink elephants. Not going to happen, and I find it sort of humorous that staff has to send out all these messages now. Really, what did they expect?

We're used to having some control over our ability to acquire credits and items in VMK. Any time that staff throws in random prizes, it causes a ruckus because it runs against the normal flow of things. It's never going to seem as fair as buying an item, trading for it, or doing a quest for it.

Don't get me wrong; I know staff is trying to do something fun for the players. I'm just not sure how well it works in a game like this.

VERY well said :)
