I've been at this for almost 2 weeks (eating sensibly and increase exercise) and oh my goodness...it works!! I've lost 4.5 pounds. I've been making time to exercise while working part time and caring fo rthe baby/house/husband is no easy task but I've made the choice to do it. I think what Dr Phil said really clicked...if you're overweight you have to have a lifestyle that supports that and if you want to loose weight you have to have a lifestyle that supports that choice. It's totally not easy..I'm a junk food junkie.

I was at the mall with my overweight best friend of 20 years and we somehow found ourselves standing in front of the cookie place and the double doozie (the 2 cookies with all that frosting crammed in between!!) was staring me in the face. I listened to her place her order and I looked at each of those cookies and wondered which would be the best choice and then I just said "No thanks!" it was easier than I thought!! I have the power to make that choice..pretty cool. Now I know the day will come...soon I'm sure...that I will have 'a craving' and I won't be so strong but I'm ok with that.

I've also noticed big changes with the exercise. I've been doing the treadmill for 45 min and 200 abroller crunches 4-5 days/week. Now I know people say you can't spot reduce but I have seen a huge difference in my stomach. It's still soft but it is definitely lifted. I stood with my bike shorts on and looked in the mirror and was not mortified at that sag I usually see.

Sorry to ramble on but this is so cool to see it working. I always love to read others success and that gives me motivation. I know the hardest part is to come but I know I will read the WISH board and read someone elses excited post and jump back on it!! So good luck to everyone..whatever your program. Keep up the hard work.

It sounds like you are well on your way to making a REAL life change! You will have that 5 pound clippie in NO TIME!
:D

Congratulations on your wonderful start! You sound like you have hit the place in your life that makes you realize "its time"!

Honestly, if you have been doing this for two weeks, the hardest part is over. Starting is the toughest. What you will find is that each day it will get easier. No its not EASY, but it gets easier. You will find that you want to start eating better to make yourself healther, and you would rather have something nutricious than something, sweet, greasy etc. The thing is, you still must allow yourself to have the things you like and want (or you will eventually cheat), but learn to do them in moderation. You have to cut back somewhere else that day. I used to have a sweet snack every night, and I still do once in a while, but now I usually have something healthy that I enjoy even more because I know that eating it is filling a nutritional need.

Good luck on your "lifetime" journey.

It isn't easy....but it is so worth it. I'm proud of you for saying no thanks to those cookies. Good job!

Like they said, it gets easier, not easy, but easier. And didn't you just love the feeling you had leaving the mall not having eaten those cookies? I think that's one of the best feelings! You feel like you accomplished something...like saying, "no thanks!".

Good for you! Keep it up. And if there's a small slip, well, get back up on the horse and keep going. As Katholyn preaches here, you can't look back, only forward.

Good luck!

That is wonderful! What a great attitude you have towards things! Way to go on avoiding those cookies, that itself is a huge step! Well, it was for me anyway! LOL!
