Yep its a questions about hair straighteners again!

Ive got the GHD ones which are about 4 years old, will they work ok in the US? Ive got a plug adapter, I don't mind if they take ages to heat up or don't get as hot but I don't want them to blow up or anything!!

Can you check if the ones you have are dual voltage?

I rung the number of the box of mine as it didn't say the other day and they said that mine are.

Last time I didn't check (on a different pair) and used these and they were fine.

My ghd's are the older ones and don't work at all in the U.S. :sad2: . I bought a cheap pair of straighteners from Walmart, they just about do the job!

Sorry ladies but the only GHD's with multi voltage are the new Mark 4 (as I have said in a previous post well worth the £££). Can only suggest that you either buy a cheap pair when you are over there from Walmart or Walgreens or treat yourselves to the new GHDs.

Ive just reserved a cheap pair (£5) from Argos, it says they have duall voltage but if they don't work at least its only a fiver! :goodvibes

We got the pink ghd's last year and they wouldn't work in the US, I had a very unhappy DD15 :sad1:
So this year I thought I would be clever and buy a voltage converter, only to find that when it arrived there was a warning not to use with hair straighteners! My ghd's say that they are only 30 something watts so I thought they would be ok with the converter but apparently when they are heating up they draw in 200watts which is enough to blow the converter up
I searched the net for a suitable voltage converter for the ghd's and the only one that does the job looks like a small car battery! weighs 3kg and costs about £50. I have thought about buying a cheap one over there or the dual voltage travel ones, but I know my dd will just complain that they are no where near as good as ghd's. There is no way I'm forking out for the new model, so she will just have to go curly :lmao:

I brought my original ghd's a few years ago and may as well have not bothered getting them. I now have the mk4's and they worked just like at home.
