This Easter Busiest In 5 Years?

Do people go for Easter when it is NOT their spring break? Next year Easter is in april and the start of our spring break in the NE. Do folks just go down for the long weekend if it's not their spring break - good friday until sunday or so? I don't understand the appeal of Easter at Disney if it is not your break??? :confused3

good question.... unless they mean college spring break :confused3
and does this mean that our NE spring break (3rd week of April) would be not to bad for crowds?

AND I will be waiting for reports .....in detail... from all of you on how the EMH worked out in various parks during this very crowded period ;)

I'm thinking that with the Easter crowds, were going to take advantage of the EMH and hit the parks early and get all our rides that we want in and then mid afternoon head back to our hotel and take advantage of the pool and rest, then take advantage of the later EMH!

Might need an extra day to sleep in when we get back! :rotfl: :rotfl2:

I have to say we went last year at Easter and never again will I do it! It didn't even feel like a vacation becasue of how many people were there.

This is our first time for Easter. We will be arriving on Monday 3/28 - around noon check-in and go straight to FW for horsebackriding. Since my dd has been dying to do this - we can never do it in the summer, just way too hot. Hopefully we can handle March weather. We just want to absorb the WDW atomsphere. No park that day - relax, pool, dinner, etc. We do like Zurgswife, hit the parks early - leave around noon for afternoon break/pool/lunch, relax and head back out before or after dinner to another park. We are just extending our stay from visiting in-laws in Jupiter. I hope my dd has no intentions of waiting 2 hrs. for a ride though

We're also going to be there March 18-25 for our first jam-packed Disney visit. I know we need to get to the parks early and get out before the mobs form, but what are the parks like in the late afternoon/ evening? Is it worth going back, or do you have to wait to 1 am to avoid a 1 hr wait? (Going anyway!) :moped:

We too will be at WDW over Easter, and we can't wait. :Pinkbounc  :Pinkbounc

My DW works in a school so we are tied to the school holidays.

I would be in a real panic if I had not planned and planned and planned some more.

Yes it's going to be REALLY busy  and we're all prepared for the crowds, but when I start to panic and wish that we could go another time I say to myself " We're bringing our DD (5) to WDW, she's going to have a breakfast with the Princess princess: at both CRT and Epcot. We're going to see Illuminations.....on a cruise. We have over 8 PS for some fantastic meals, but above all WERE GOING TO WALT DISNEY WORLD :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

We have saved for the last year for this holiday and have had the pleasure of using these boards to get the most from it.

I know that we are not going to see and do EVERYTHING, but I also know that this will be our DD first of many many holidays at WDW.

Relax and look forward to a holiday that some people will never have the chance to ever experience.

WDW UK,

With that wonderful attitude, you are sure to have a magical trip!!! :wizard: Any day at Disney is better than any day anywhere else!

We were there Presidents week, and had a wonderful time. I really think attitude plays a major role in your perception...When I got back from Presidents week, I read many " crowd nightmare" posts. We were having such a wonderful time, I guess we did not notice the crowds. We arrived early, used fast pass and had a great time!

Have wonderful trip!!!! :sunny:

We managed 18mos ago at Christmas/new years and had a wonderful time...i don't mind the crowds because i can mange them....

I don't see how that's so confusing. For many people it is either go during easter or go in the summer. Besides, if you leave on Maundy Thursday you can stay through until Monday. That's three full park days. Not only that but can you think of a better way to spend Easter? :cloud9: We are going for July 4th and the following week. People think we are crazy  because of the crowds. Do we have a choice? Yes. Go to Disney World or don't. I think I'll pick the former.

I am a teacher and, yes, I'm stuck with going the week of Easter. However, I wouldn't have it any other way! I can't wait to spend time with my friend in sunny Florida and get out of this snowy weather! Have a fantastic trip everyone! :)

Are most people going the week before or after Easter. We will be on the cruise Easter Sunday - Thurs. Our plan was to use up some old water park passes on Friday after Easter and I was wondering which water park to go to.

I think what JESW meant was IF Easter is NOT your spring break its only a 3 day weekend and there are a lot of 3 day weekends thru out the year..... so then why does everyone go then? AND I don't think she was implying it to be foolish or anything either.... she was just trying to understand the appeal. I was too!!
AND I always go to WDW in the crowded/HOT summer because I have had kids in school.

Easter weekend is always a four day weekend in Canada. You get Good Friday off and Easter Monday, typically. I didn't mean to imply that JESW was being foolish by any means. I was just responding to her query. It's just that to me it seems perfectly logically to go then (and I was also referring to when it was not also Spring Break). What other four day weekends do we get in this half of the year? It's a prime opportunity for many who do not get a spring break and may not get summer vacation, either. And like I said, I can't think of a better place to spend Easter. :cloud9:

We are AP holders so we are not planning on spending as much time in the parks as we usually do, we are hoping the weather will be warm enought enjoy the pool all day. We are planning on heading over to the parks around 5:00 for dinner, we PS each night and then, stay for the night at EMH in the evening. We will be staying until 3:00 am at MK and sleeping in each day, pools, etc.. Will the EMH be so crowded that we should change these plans and go when the parks open instead. We are going back in June, July, and October so I am not so concerned about missing rides, but do want to enjoy the parks a little. Any ideas??

neither can I ... that is great that you get 4 days.... the only time we get more than 3 days for Easter is when Easter falls later April and then we get the whole week and I did in fact go to WDW one of those Easter/Spring breaks. Thought I could beat the summer heat BUT NOOOOOO FL was having a heat wave...just my luck!! :teeth:
Anyway hope you all enjoy yours ..... I have to wait until the hot summer :goodvibes

We will be there March 20-24, It will be our first trip to WDW. We are staying off-property. It doesn't matter...none of it...not the crowds, not the fact that we are off property, we are going to WDW!! We have a few PS and all the knowledge from this board, TGM, UG & Passporter. We are ready!! I am soooo excited.

Back again...and thanks for asking the question too, Mickeyfaniam! :) I am not trying to be dense, but because Easter is never the same day every year, why is it always crowded? For example, if your spring break is in march, will you go to Disney next year when Easter is in April?? Do people go down for just the 4-day long weekend or do they extend their stay? I am not trying to be difficult or say that anyone is crazy for going that time of year (we will most likely be there next Easter since that is when our spring break is) but I am trying to figure out why it is such a busy time..

And it's not always the choice to go for Easter (long weekend) or in the summer. Not everyone is on the same schedule. We have gone in June the last two years.

Not everyone is on the same schedule but many are. That's why some times are more crowded then others. I think we've already answered why it is such a busy time....because for many people it is an ideal time to go considering their schedules.

I am soooo excited about this trip! I was worried at first about the crowd situation, but I've been Christmas week and during the 4th of July, so I think we will be able to manage crowds ok.

We are staying in a place that we've never stayed in before, the CR, and somehow, I've not spilled the beans! The kids don't have a clue we are going anywhere for spring break, especially WDW!! :goodvibes

I can't wait!! Like some have already stated, it was this week or no week for us-- crowds or not, we will be in Disney World!! How cool is that?!! :earsgirl:
