this doesnt make sense (waitlist)

a few days ago I did a waitlist for SSR for April 2

today I noticed it was listed under "resort availablity tool) as being available

yet I wasnt notified that I got the day

now its not available

I sure hope nothing got messed up and I got my day

I guess my question is if the day I have waitlisted why wasnt I told I got it

and if I didnt get it why not if I have waitlisted

Waitlist is a batch job that runs at unknown times of the day. Your day could of come up and someone grabbed it between batch job runs.
Also, someone may have been making a change to a reservation (ex: adding or subtracting a day), MS may of cancelled a reservation and held the day during that process you saw it on the website.
If you "see" a reservation on the website go ahead and book it, even if you have a waitlist. You can always cancel the waitlist once you have your reservation number. MS can then combine with a previous reservation if needed.

A waitlist isn't a guarantee. Others can steal your dates who aren't on a waitlist.

Also, somebody else may have waitlisted some or all of the available dates before you did, so they would be ahead of you in line. One more reason to snag it if you see it.

Does your waitlist still show up on your dashboard? My understanding is that the waitlist process will grab the room and take it out of inventory, but not complete the reservation immediately. That part has to be done manually. They seemed to have improved the waitlist process so that cancellations didn't go back into the general pool, but were grabbed by the waitlist if they matched. Recent experiences reported here seem to indicate that they rolled back that change.

Just to be clear, you only had the one day waitlisted?

For sure if you see your day show up on the availability tool snag it!!! Don't depend on the waitlist because as others have said it doesn't run constantly, only a few times a day.

Just realize the WL is not a perfect system, plus as others have noted, there are reasons that it could have gone to someone else. It's also possible you got it and it just hasn't shown up on your account yet. I agree, if you see it snag it. IF you do and you matched also, DVC can fix it if needed.

The waitlist used to have a few options. I am not sure that still is true!

Option 1. The waitlist will automatically take the points from your account without contacting you and make the reservation in your name

Option 2. Disney Vacation Club will contact you when your dates are available and you'll have the option to use the points or not.

Option 3 DVC will cancel your previous reservation and replace it with your new waitlisted reservation

Make sure you have enough points in your account to complete the reservation. Otherwise, you'll be out of luck!

Also, if you see what you want online, grab it. It's the rule of survival with all timeshares and exchange companies!
