Apparenlty corporate sponsors have already been allowed to book staterooms on the Magic for May-Sept 2005, with AT&T booking 100 rooms on the FL to CA repositioning cruise. (I wonder if Disney board members got early cracks at ressies too)

It's conceivable that Cat 11 might be all that's left for us noncorporate types by the time they open up bookings next week.

Here's the link to the news story: www.jimhillmedia.com

I will tell you that a lot of coporate parties, graduation parties, happen at Disneyland ALL THE TIME!!! Money talks here in California -

I would not be surprised either if corporate companies buy a lot of the cruises -

Just try to get a Laker ticket or concert ticket out here - It is so expensive - There is a lot of money out here in CA - Just wish I had some!

How many rooms are there in each category on the Magic? Anyone know?

And, what is the fastest a ship has sold out?

Wow! This is very interesting that people will think this cruise will sellout so quickly.

I wouldn't worry about this.

First, I would point out that Jim Hill never wrote that this is a fact. He clearly presented it as an unsubstantiated "whisper." Jim Hill wrote:

<blockquote>For weeks now, there have been whispers about when it was actually going to happen. Little whisps of stories would leak. Juicy little tidbits like: "AT&T has already booked 100 rooms for the trip out to Los Angeles" and "Disney's other corporate partners are being offered first shot at the rooms on that cruise."</blockquote>

Next, AT&T dropped sponsorship of the Indiana Jones ride at Disneyland and Spaceship Earth at Epcot, so AT&T no longer even qualifies as a "corporate sponsor." That really casts doubt of the validity of the AT&T "whisper."

Also, keep in mind that corporate events tend to last days, not weeks. Corporations can ill afford to put a significant number executives or high achievers onto a cruise ship for two weeks, with very limited communication capabilities.

Finally, there are 877 staterooms on the Disney Magic. Even if 10% or 20% of the rooms are used for group bookings, there will be plenty of staterooms available for conventional bookings.

If the summer 2005 cruises are a "trial" for the cruise market, it wouldn't make much sense to allow companies to buy out an entire cruise. That would not give them a true picture of the demand for a DCL ship on the West coast.

Thanks for the link - very interesting information.

I need to mark on my calendar the day the Magic will arrive because I will want to be there for the "fanfare". Then hopefully I will be sailing on her shortly after in July. I'm really hoping that the repositioning cruise will include a stop here in San Diego.

I very inpatiently awaiting May 5th. Just hope these cruises aren't out of my price range.

Horace, thanks for the analysis. I could see corporate sponsors eating into the 1st repositioning cruise, but based on what you point out maybe that's the only cruise that they'd book on.

I love that Jim Hill says "You heard it here first."

I heard it on the Dis Boards weeks ago!! ::yes::

Horace, gotta tell you...I love your rational thoughts on everything that comes up here. You always seem to put the common sense back in the "OH NO!!!!:earseek: " situations that come up!!!

More like MONTHS ago!! :lol

Thanks, Horace! I was thinking of the pulled sponsorship, only. The rest is definitely a level head! Kelli
