This could be BAD NEWS for WDW....

The last lines say this....

One of Disney's bright spots has been its TV hit ``Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?'' So, then, what's Wall Street's final answer to the question of who could or would buy Disney?

``No one is egregiously valued above Disney in the sector on a global basis,'' analyst Kim said. ``So at this point, the answer would be no one.''

I don't think we have anything to worry about.....Yet....

Yeah, I read it too, but I think it would take years, and by then, Disney should be back on track, right along with the economy. Everyone knows these things go in cycles. There were rumors like that back in 1984, too.

This was more than a rumor in 1985. I beleive it was Carl Ikahn or one of the other take over gurus that bought up gobs of Disney stock just prior to Eisner taking over. He made another fortune in his "greenmail" takeover. The intent was a leveraged buyout and sell the assets to pay for the buyout. A "sum of the parts worth more than the whole" mentality. It would have been devastating to Disney and we wouldn't have Disney as we know it it it weren't for Eisner coming in. Sorry all of you Eisner haters, but its the truth.

Actually Michael Eisner has done a good job... it is some of those working below him that have dropped the ball, that and having people in positions for which they are not suited... for instance the guy who used to run the stores running the theme parks--- that gave us California Adventure, which has not been all that it was supposed to be... what's up with that?... now TDS have some retail person from Nike, I think, running them, and they do not even resemble the Disney Stores of old... where is the Magic... gone... instead of clips and music from the movies playing, they have ad after ad, and hideous remakes of popular songs, that should not have been remade in the Disney Image---ie:Who Let the Dogs Out", is now "Who Woke Snow White Up"... oh c'mon!!!

It was Saul Steinberg who made the big run at Disney. With the Bass Brothers blocking position, Disney may be vulnerable. Also Eisner may now be vulnerable in that the Basses were his biggest backers. There is going to be a lot more pressure on Disney to perform financially.
