We are driving from Mass to WDW this summer, leaving the 23rd of June. We wanted to get a big suv (suburban, etc) but after calling every single agency in Mass is it aparent that they do not have them in person, they are only an imaginery picture on the websites, lol. So we have settled on a minivan and are crossing our fingers that we can fit everyone and all the stuff (3 adults, 2 kids, baby in a carseat, stroller, luggage, pack n play). I was very excited when I found an awsome rate at national using codes from MS but this week I took a ride to make sure it was close enough to pick up and it's not...at all...it would be at least an hour without traffic, to pick it up. So 2 hours on the day of the first 7+ hrs of our journey just isn't good at all. Here's the problem...I cannot find anything even close to that price at a local agency, everything is either hundreds more or not unlimited mileage.

Hmmph........

What is the trick to finding something close to me, not $800 with unlimited mileage???

Ok when I had to put my car in the shop for body work, I remember the rental place was an odd name, but it was what the shop used. They dropped the car to me at my house :cool1: :cool1: and I dropped it back at the shop when I picked my car up... it was awesome! They were great. I can't remember the name, but found this site with a whole lot of rental places for you to look into. But also call your local auto body shop and see eho they use too.

hope that helps!

We also rent a car for every long distance trip. Because we like to get a very early start, I pick the car up the night before. It works to our advantage because the late pick up time, gives us a late drop off time on our return day. I have found that airports generally have the best rates. Supply and demand is my guess.

I get mine the night before also and pack as much as I can before leaving

Did you try Hotwire? You are told exactly how much- they rent from National, Hertz, Alamo, Enterprize and Avis. I have found so far that for my trip to San Fran I can do better with them. After you say yes you are locked in though. I am waitng my 72 hours at Priceline to try to name my own price- I went redicously low- but wanted to give it a trial run.

I have found my lowest rates at our airport using Dollar Rent A Car. We do have to drive about 40 minutes to pick up the care which will also use about 2hours of our time traveling but it is worth the approx. $200.00 I am saving.
