OH MY EVER LOVIN' GOOD GRIEF!! :scared:

DH flew in from a trip to California on Friday and over the weekend, he mentioned he was feeling poopy. Like he was getting a cold.

But noooooo.....it's not a cold. No...

It's the flu. As in THE flu...the big one everyone warns about during the winter and the one he got a flu shot for.. INFLUENZA. :( How the heck is flu still around on April 30th??? It's practically summer here and we're all wearing short sleeves and drinking lemonade. THERE IS NOT ROOM FOR FLU!!

ESPECIALLY....because WE LEAVE FOR DISNEY IN 4.5 DAYS!!! :crazy2:

omgomgomgomgomg..... when he came back from the doctor and said it was official..he had the flu, was my first thought, "Oh you Poor DEAR, let me pray for you! Let me fix you chicken soup!"

NO!

I am not that sweet! No, it was..."oH nO oH mY gOsH NOOOOO....the DISNEY TRIP....!!!!" :scared1:

And of course now I'm freaking out and paying attention to every sinus drainage, or head ache or sore arm or dry eye...I have become....symptom checker extraordinaire! And naturally , " the get away from me you germy man wife"

Ok...rant over. But seriously...keep wiping down those grocery cart handles. THE FLU IS STILL OUT THERE LYING IN WAIT LIKE A SNAKE IN THE GRASS!

I've been sick since March 30th. 2 rounds of antibiotics. I'm feeling better but not 100% yet. Maybe 70% now.

I waited too long to get to the doctor. Plus because of other medical conditions I can't take sinus medication. So, tell your dh to get straight to the doctor.

I hope he feels better for your trip.

Yep, he started today. One other time he took it and it kicked the flu butt right away. I sure hope I can stay well. I didn't catch it the last time he got the flu.

You're handling it better then me. I would check him into a hotel and say "here's some Tamiflu. See you in 4 days!" Lol!

Your rant was very funny. :) I hope everyone else stays well!

Hopefully it will be a short-lived milder version since he had a flu shot this year, unless it's a completely different strain.

I just got off the CDC website looking for information and there is very little sporatic outbreaks left in the country. Seriously....someBODY out in Oakland came to work when they were sick and my DH probably touched the wrong surface. Ugh...and then my DH went to work on Monday and most likely infected the entire VP group who had come in from all parts of the nation for a special meeting. Lordy...If a new outbreak occurs across the nation yall can all blame us. ::yes::

I'm sorry. :( You aren't alone though; my co-worker's 10 year old was diagnosed last week. Hopefully he'll recover quickly, especially since he had the shot!

Last time I had the flu it was in July. I ended up with pneumonia. Terrible. I hope he gets well soon!

DS got the swine flu several years ago right before a Disney trip. DH and I ran around with lysol and chlorox wipes. The other two kids were sent outside to play for as many hours as they could stand (I even brought meals out to them). Miraculously no one else got it. Hopefully you'll have the same experience :goodvibes.

Eekkk!! Now you've scared me!! We leave for WDW in less than a month and I figured we were good and didn't need to worry about the flu anymore!! I am going to become hyper vigilant now and make the girls wash their hands and eat extra veggies!! I hope your DH gets better soon and you don't get it!!

I hope the Tamiflu kicks in quickly and he's better in no time!

I AM still wiping the grocery carts down and have a bottle of hand sanitizer in the car console that I use every time I've been in a store handling money or the card machine etc.

I completely understand your "Oh NO - not the TRIP" reaction! We were heading down third week in January, during the peak season. We home school and DH works from home and were so paranoid that we just isolated ourselves from New Year's until we left. No way / no how was I taking any chances. Stayed away from the Y (poor kids, no gym for 3 weeks) and any unnecessary outings were skipped.

We were exposed to the flu the week of our Disney cruise. (6 of the people with it that we knew lived in our basement at the time.) Thankfully, all of us (except my husband) had the flu shot, but I was still freaking. A friend recommended this. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000M256NW?pc_redir=1398756186&robot_redir=1 (None of us got the flu.) I am so sorry you are going through this.

That stuff is 100% sugar. The company that makes it got sued and lost, but they can still sell it. It's a placebo and nothing more. Any doctor will tell you the same thing. I've taken it twice and it did absolutely nothing. Save your money.

OP, ask the doctor for Tamiflu for your family to take on your trip with you just in case. That's what a friend of mine did. The doc gave the whole family a prescription.

Right from the product website:
- Each 0.04 oz. dose (1 g) of Oscillo contains 1 g of sugar.

You may as well throw $12 in the trash.

.
That would have been useful information 3 months ago when my husband was getting annoyed with me. It also explains the taste. :lmao:

My DS came home from college with the Flu and a sinus infection the night before we left for Florida vacation in March. Delayed our trip by three hours to go to the doctor and pharmacy. No one else got sick during the trip, thank goodness. May you have the same luck at your house.

Precisely what we did.

And it is more than that...because of the quantity they have you took. So sorry for the bad referral OP.

Keep in mind on the Tamiflu--it isn't cheap and if you do end up with everyone having the flu while on your trip, you still need everyone to convalesce. I'm so sorry you are dealing with this. I usually do not get flu shots (I'm phobic of needles) an we have never had any issues before. But last year, my oldest and I did get the flu. So when we planned our trip--especially since it was a cruise, I had everyone get the shot. It doesn't help you now and I am so sorry that you are in the midst of this. You have every right to be upset and freaking out.

That said--the prescriptions are a good idea, but not all doctors will do them. (I'm in awe of the docs who save families a trip by pre-writing scripts on their behalf. I have had to always drag every sick person in.)

And if you have need for them--please stay in your hotel room.
