I highly doubt he was fired just for that. There has to have been something else he did as well. If someone were fired for that it would be like someone getting fired because they support a different sports team then their boss.

Being from Canada, I suppose you are not aware of the long tradition, particularly in the Southeastern (conference) United States, of firing someone because they support a different college's sports team.

In Tennessee, it is perfectly legal to discriminate against Gators, Bulldogs, Tigers (thrice over, including the bengal variety), Elephants, Hogs, and Wildcats. The book is still out on Aggies (we did help try to them out a couple of hundred years ago) but I'm sure they will be added to the list soon.
