There were 13 attacks at polling locations as Iraqis went to polls to vote for their Constitution. When they voted in January, there were over 300 attacks at polling locations and no one voted from Falugia. This time, over 20,000 voters went to the polls and voted. Major progress and a major success!

I think it is great! :)

With regards to their housing market. A condo overlooking the Euphrates River went for $40,000 before the war. That same condo comands a price of $300,000. I think that speaks well of how Iraqi's see their future.

DH was there and not only the Iraqis but the troops see the future as bright. Many troops are investing in Iraqi Dinars. We have quite a bit ourselves. :)

Sure, for the very few that can acually afford a house or condo like that. Things always looked great for them.

You amaze me! You always see the glass as half empty. Do you recognize that there is are housing markets everywhere that are considered "preferred properties"? Do you imagine, that just like here, a property that overlooks the Euphrates River might be considered prime real estate? Just because a lot of people in New Hampshire can't afford the million plus dollars, to buy a home on Lake Winnepausaukee, (sp) doesn't mean that the rest of New Hampshire is homeless. It means that they are developing an economy that they want to invest in.

Do you remember the cartoon "Limpy the Lion and Hardy Har Har".? "Oh Limpy, woe is me, what are we going to do now". :rotfl2:

Excellent.

Less of an excuse to stay in occupation ;)

Well, since this is a Disney related board, perhaps Eeyore is more appropriate. :teeth:

Ditto. Only somebody like you would take a stat like that, one that affects a VERY small minority in the country, and make it out like it's some widespread good news.

In this case I gladly will be on the half empty side than on the side trying to pee in the glass and tell everybody it's a full glass of white wine.

Well, when you take it bit by bit, it's not widespread good news but it's still good news regardless and when you add that to all the other good news that's NOT very widely reported in the MSM I can see where people like you get the idea that someone is trying to pee into the glass. And yanno, the same thing could be said about those who are trying to report good news while some (some with an agenda) are actually peeing in the glass.

Thanks for posting, Dawn. :sunny:

It's great to see the progress in Iraq. At least we know that the vast majority of Iraqi's appreciate their freedom and are thankful to the USA (as opposed to many of the never-ending doom and gloomers on the DIS).

I think it is good that Iraq is taking baby steps toward democracy. The approval of their new Constitution is another big step for them and the news of the turnouts in many cities, despite the attempts by the Sunnis to vote it down, is great news. The people of Iraq are embracing freedom and democracy and showing that it can work for them. I hope they have continued success.

A rising tide floats all boats. The yachts and the canoes. As property values rise for the 'waterview, luxury digs', property values rise for everyone. It give people a reason to invest in their towns, cities and country. Good news for Iraq is 'bad news' for the anti war crowd that want to see failure so they can say, "I told you so". It is so sad when a groups success depends upon the misery of others.

Well said. :sunny:

(Next we will hear the anti-war crowd complaining that the Iraqi's property taxes will be too high.)

Praise God for our President, our troops, and allies for bringing real hope to the oppressed and being proactive against the terrorists dogs and terrorists supporters (Saddam).

Are you really so wrapped up in your own little world that you consider there to be a crowd who genuinely crave a failure in Iraq?

Please, everyone who hates success stories in Iraq post a response asap.

Let's put Dawn's little stereotype to the test.
