Third party booking

We have been looking at various Disney vacations to take, but have kind of shifted our attention to a trip to Disney World. I did some research and read that you can possibly save some money by booking hotels through third party vendors. Does anyone have experience with this? What are some pros and cons vs. paying directly through Disney? I understand you can do tickets this way too, but the price tag of the resorts was much more shocking to me on the Disney website.

In terms of specific resorts, I have stayed at All Star Movies and Contemporary, which I know are completely different lol. Leaning more towards a moderate resort, or a deluxe if we can get a good deal. Wasn't too crazy about my time at All Star Movies.

Many times the 3rd party vendors will have the same price as Disney but they have codes floating around - anywhere from 5% to 15%, some rare codes are even more - that you can use. They will also have cheaper rates (I was just comparing May dates and Priceline is cheaper than Disney) and then you can stack codes.

There is also a thread on the forum mentioned above that deals with Priceline and Hotwire blind bidding. This is not for the faint of heart since you do not know which hotel you are getting until after you book, and for the best Disney resorts deals you have to wait until pretty close to your arrival (most ppl book a refundable room just in case and to book FP). But many people have gotten really great deals on Disney resorts this way, I booked the Dolphin (not technically Disney but on property and a great location between Epcot and DHS) for $200 per night taxes and fees included. I was pretty confident of what I would get by following the advise on the thread.
