I notice that the MagicBands I just received are noticeably thinner than they have been in the past. From those of you that have used the thinner model, other than lighter is better, what do you like and/or dislike about the newer model. Of course, the most important thing is do they stay on just as well?

Still dislike the MB but at least its lighter and uses less "rubber".

I personally never had a problem with the old MBs. Besides when I put the new one on, I didn't notice a difference. My DD13 and I decorate our MBs and change them up every day, and we used old and new ones depending on what we're wearing, so we were swapping them out our entire trip. The new ones seem a bit flimsier than the old ones when putting them on, and for some reason I had problems putting the new ones on. Once they were on though, they felt exactly the same - like a thick rubber watchband. And none of us has ever had a problem with any of them falling off.

I thought I'd HATE MBs when I first heard of them as I NEVER wear a watch or bracelets -- don't like it. However, the MBs never bothered me. I'd say the new ones are even more comfortable. No downside that I can think of -- they stay on just as well.

We were worried when we got the new style ones but ended up liking them a lot better. The lighter, more flexible material makes them more comfortable in general. The big thing for us though was that we both noticed a lot less sweat collecting under these ones, which also meant less sticking/rubbing.

Never had an issue, much more comfortable.

Cant speak about kids using them. It does seem like im seeing parents trying to figure out where a missing childs band is. Not huge numbers, just more than the past. Once a visit vs once every couple visits. Might also just be crowds are higher though.

Any parents who have used both have any comments on how the kids like it?

Just polled the kids and DS11 and DD9 find them more comfortable. Also haven't had any issues with them staying on or the like.

We just came back last week and had the thinner model. We also still have our old magic bands from a trip a couple of years ago. The newer ones are much more comfortable, and my kids prefer the newer ones to the older ones. We are the family that puts our magic bands on before landing at MCO and don't take them off until the vacation is over (9 or ten nights later!!). Our previous trip with the older bands they never came off any of us. This past trip out of six of us, three popped off randomly, my DH and two of the four kiddos. I also found two in our hotel pool ( found the owners immediately which they were relieved). Also I noticed a lot of grey magic bands this trip. Not sure if people are really just liking the color grey now or if they were replacements.
All that being said, in August I wore mine for ten nights through showers, pool time in the afternoon and two water park days and mine never came off!

I like the thinner ones for the most part. That being said we got ours a few days ago and I went ahead and peeled the gray off ds's. It was harder to peel and left more jagged edges than I remember. Whether this is just a memory issue or a real difference with the bands I don't know.

We definitely had this problem with ours! I was wondering why, I didn't realize they had changed the material. Last trip the grey peeled off nice and clean. These new ones look rough with the grey peeled off!

Now that you mention this I'm remembering now when we were still on the plane we had a heck of a time peeling the grey off our four kids' bands.

I think I read some where you can use a file to clean it up some. I'm going to try it as the bands are way too big for at least two of the kids with the grey on.

Is there a way to tell which ones you have? The ones we just got are the only ones we have, so nothing to compare them to.

Thanks! I may try that if I remember before we leave. My wrists are tiny so I have to peel the grey off. I was bummed at the current rough edges look.

I am not a watch wearer, and to be honest, the way the old magic bands fit drove me crazy. It never sat flat on my wrist, always twisted around sideways, and just aggravated me. The new thinner ones seem to fit a whole lot better, were much more comfortable, and didn't drive me crazy.

That being said, I would love to see something akin to a smart watch, with the Magic Band functionality in it, and a touch screen with the ability to interface with my phone, and run the MDE app right on the device. Make it rechargeable, and let it function like a smart watch when I am not in the parks. DISNEY, are you listening, I will literally THROW my money at you if you make it. Well, one other thing, you have to make one that works with Samsung, I'm not buying an I phone.

I don't wear a watch or bracelets so I was not crazy about a MB. I found the top of my wrist was getting irritated so I put a piece of moleskin under the band and that helped with sweating and irritation. Looking forward to the new ones and hope they are more comfortable.

We just got back last week, and our magic bands were exactly the same (but we did get purple ones, as we have lots of the other colors).

So there are thinner ones now?

I didn't notice them being noticably thinner but I was distracted by the flexibility and the issues I was having with removing the grey part. I will pull out one of my older ones and try and post a side by side comparison of the two when I get home from work today.

I just pulled my pile of them out of my purse. I'll be darned! The new purple one is thinner and more flexible! I hadn't noticed at all!

The older ones are more rigid. I didn't notice any difference wearing them, but that's so funny!
