It's just hubby and I, and we've been to HH twice-once at Christmas and once at Thanksgiving. I don't see us EVER going during the busy summer season as we just don't travel in the summer.

We LUV HH, but we typically drive, and that requires a big vacation time investment.

If we were to consider every two years (maybe three) wonder what the availability looks like for Christmas at the seven month mark?

Any advise or considerations that I need to make would be greatly appreciated!

EDIT: The number of points in question has been removed. It could have been interpreted as a "for sale" post. - Chuck S

It depends upon a lot of factors. But if you are still able to use those points for vacations at WDW, I'd hold onto them. After costs, you'll only get about $60/point for them.

I can't speak for DVC at HH, but I have to say that Christmas at HH is not exactly high season overall LOL! So I bet you can find a place to stay.

I sold my 50 HH points a few years ago. I just felt that I would not stay there and I didn't want to deal with them. They do sell for less the on site but I still got a good deal. The "50 point" contracts go fast and command a little more. (Mine sold in something like one day)

I don't know about Xmas, but I do know that Thanksgiving is a very busy time, and it's usually hard to get reservations (at least for our 1 BR) unless you have the 11 month window (although this year seems to be an exception-Thanksgiving still has availability). Can't give you advise because we're so biased. We love HHI and if we had points there, we'd hold very tight to them.

Thanks, guys. I guess it boils down to a personal decision. So far, we've never lost points or had to shuffle to much to use them. But, if we don't visit at least every two years, we will face the trouble of using them for a regular WDW vacation, and we usually plan well in advance and use our beloved BCV points.

We are in a similar dilemma...

We have never stayed at Hh since buying our points 8 years ago, but have always found ways to make use of them. (Renting, booking elsewhere, etc.)

Currently we are waiting for the GCH info to make our final decision about whether to sell HH or not. The only thing that holds us back besides is the possibility of driving to HH once every 2-3 years from our home state of NJ. Our original intention was to use HH as a stopping point during raod trips to WDW. We haven't taken a road trip to WDW since 1997!

Assuming you own only HH, you're going to give up maybe $30 per point to sell then replace the points. Personally I'd do an add on to that amount at AKV or at CRV coming up and then make the best of the HH points. That way you can have your high demand ressie and still use up the HH points as you go along. If you're inclined to trade through II, this is also a great way to do so.

We actually have 500 BCV points and just 50 HH points. We are in good shape with BCV and our WDW visits. I think we would be able to sell for around $70-$75 per point, and we paid $84. Yes, we would lose, but we did get two vacations out of our points. Still debating.

With that mix you can always use them as if they were BCV points but subbing the points at the 7 month window, esp for weekends. But you likely won't miss 50 points either. In that case it does make sense to sell if you don't need them and don't plan to replace them.
