Thinking of Renting our points...

We are thinking of renting our points this year (September 08 use year). We have never done this before, and are looking for some first timer advice.

1.) Should we make a reservation using them, or should we just post the points and make the res based on what the renter wants?

2.) How does the rental transaction work?

3.) Is it easier to try to rent all 300 of our points, or in a couple smaller amounts?

Make a reservation based on what the renter wants. That way you have more potential of using the points.

2.) How does the rental transaction work?
Everyone is different...search out the rental threads here on the DIS. Just be fair to the renter but cover yourself as well so you don't get stuck with expiring points if something were to happen.

3.) Is it easier to try to rent all 300 of our points, or in a couple smaller amounts?
Easy...well maybe. See where the first how the first rental goes and how many points are used. Then decide if you want to go through another transaction. You couold post that you have 300 points available on the rent/trade board.....doesn't mean you have to part with all the points.

I'd highly recommend reading this Point Rental Primer thread. It has a ton of great tips for new renters.

Personally, I prefer transfers to other DVC members as opposed to the hassled of renting points to someone. Maybe there is a DVC member out there who you could transfer all of your excess points to? I'd try that first. It's much easier.
