Thinking of having a Wii?

I have had a long service award at work (20 years!) and have decided to get a Wii so we can have some family fun over Christmas :)

I'm completely green when it comes to what to get. I want the sports games which seem to come with the console but looking at the various packages and accessories available I'm not sure what to get (don't want the Wii fit)?

Do you think it is a good idea to get extra remote controllers or is the one that comes with the console enough?

Any other games that are worth getting for the family to play?

I'd definitely say you need another controller Tim so that you can play against each other. I can't understand why the Wii only has one when you ideally need two just to play the Wiisports that comes with the console. We got ours as a package with an accessory pack and charger for the handsets. We love Mariokart as a good game we can all play and Wii Play is good fun too :)

I'd definately advise getting at least one extra Wii-mote....

Wii Sports (That comes with most Wiis) is great fun (I rule at bowling!).... Erm, this is where it gets a bit tricky because it's actually my fiancee's Wii! We're planning on buying Samba di Amigo as it's quite good fun and gets your body moving (We've already got the playstation version and love it!).... Another good option for a family might be Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games.... We've got this for the DS and its a really fun game!

We love wii sports:thumbsup2 we also have Mariokart, its a big favorite too:)

Hi Tim, thanks for posting as it means I didn't have too. We have invested n one for a family present at Xmas and was wondering about a second controller. We manged to get Wii sports ad Mario Galaxies free with the standard price at Game. I am advised by many that Galaxies is good as is Sonic and Mario at Olympics and Mario Kart (have them both for the DS Lite).
The best DEal I have seen for the controller is to but Wii Play game as it come with a controller, all for £27.99 at play where as just the controller is £30-£35 in the shops

Hi, we had a Wii a few years ago - and its loads of fun! If you plan on playing with a few of you (which is the best way with the Wii) then definately get a remote each. Some good games are Mario Party, Wii sports is fun, and we also liked Mario and Sonic at the Olympic games. There is a good range of games available now, and you can download oldies but goodies onto it too!

if you want another controller i reccomend buying wii play ....the games ok but it comes with an extra controller :thumbsup2

Having talked to the Wii. ers in the household I'm told you need at least 2 controllers. Sports still gets played with quite a bit. Mariokart, Mario galaxy are another 2 favourites.
Germ buster which you download is played with most evenings :)

Thanks for all your help :)

My Wii arrived this morning from Gamestation (only ordered yesterday!). Got Sports, Wii Play (with free remote) and Mario Kart as a bundle saving over £25. Ordered via Quidco so got £11 cashback too :)

Kids are now pestering me to set it up now :)

I will let you know of any breakages / injuries later LOL

If you are anything like us you'll find you have wii arm/shoulder this morning.

btw we love the Lego games - star wars / indy and Batman

Have fun

btw I used nectar points to buy our 2nd nunchuck - felt less expensive than using real money!
