right, there was a thread here recently where people were complaining about the laws of supply and demand affecting wedding photography.

Plumbing is just a hobby for me- same as photography and accounting.

Caveat: turning pro photog instead of pro plumber will not make your photos any less crappy if you don't learn to use the equipment properly.

Everything changes. And there will always be opportunities to make money doing photography professionally - you just have to 1) be good at what you do, 2) be able to sell it and 3) be innovative and interesting. Yeah, it might be tougher, and the business model for certain has/is changing, but that is true with ANY industry out there over the years.

interesting article. I've seen a couple articles that mention pretty much the same thing so i figure they must be right

i decided you also need a travel allowance/ability to go where you need to. i was just talking to a photog friend of mine( does nature photography). his set up is his mother gave him a house in FL and his job is such that he/his wife can run it and still make money no matter where he is. so he goes to FL every couple weeks and takes nature shots and gets paid for different articles based on parks etc there( he mentioned 3 recent ones, they paid for his gas to travel to FL)... so i guess there is still some business, but sigh, me i just wish i could just go some where it isn't snowing and icy
