Besides the coconut races and atmosphere, I keep reading that the food at O'Hana's is not the best...anyone else switching or have switched b/c of the reviews?

While I've read plenty of negative reviews here, we love Ohana and and have yet to have a bad experience!

It was fine the last 3 times we went. I think it was so overhyped people couldn't help but be let down. It's not the best meal on the planet, but I will happily go again. I was there last August, February, and will be going again in 4 months.:goodvibes

Once the hostess forgot the bread. That same meal there was no dressing on our salad. Neither a big deal. Both things were easily fixed. Honestly, I wouldn't cancel unless your expectations are out of this world. It was fine:)

I love love love love love O'hana. It is on my top 5, and a total not miss.... if you havent tried it yet - I say give it a shot, you might love it tooo!!! :lovestruc

To put it simply, if you canceled a reservation every time there were a cluster of negative reviews on these boards, then there would be nowhere left to eat.

I personally enjoyed 'Ohana and would eat there again in a heartbeat. The only reason we are skipping it on our next trip is simply because it will not fit with the rest of our plans.

I would try it for yourself we have eaten at some places highly recommended on the dis and hated them as well as the other way around. We have also been to places twice and had two opposite experiences so if I have had a good and a bad I give a third try if it is bad again we don't go back it is off the list. I look at the menus and if there is something everyone N my family will eat we go for it. We have only done breakfast at ohanna but we enjoyed. We LOVE kona. Ate there 4 times always had great dinner with no wait

I love 'Ohana! I don't really care for the grilled/skewered meats ( my sister loves them). I do like the shrimp though. And I love the sides: noodles, chicken wings and pot stickers. And I think the bread pudding is heavenly.

I'm ready to go back now!

I love it. So much in fact that we are starting out trip with it (dinner) and ending with it (breakfast)

what is in the potsticker? pork??

Yes, and what I do is take that out and eat just the "sticker" Mmmm, dip it in one of the sauces for the wings. Oh my so good.

And I agree with PP, if you like the menu then go see for yourself.

Ask yourself why do you think Ohana is the hardest ressie to get? Just to see the coconut races???? NO, it is because the food is good. Personally I see good and bad reviews of all the restaurants, if you are on the boards long enough you will see them too.

Of course it is up to you....but again why can't anyone get a ressie here??? (check out all these threads of ppl complaining about not getting one)
What would make it so popular that it is the single most difficult ressie to get????

;)

My girlfriend and I think the variety and quality of food at Ohana is great. We've been there 3 times in the past year and each time the quality of food and service was wonderful!

I agree with others, don't let negative reviews sway you. We have eaten there many times over the years and always enjoy it.

Give it a try, you never know. I enjoy the meats, but its the bread, salad, sides and dessert that do it for me!:cloud9:

'Ohana is always a must-do for my family. I don't even eat meat and I love the food here. My husband and son are all about the meat, but I have always found the sides and dessert to be really, really good. They also do bring out a vegetarian entree for me, but I'd be happy with the salad and vegetables. Plus that bread pudding is so very good.

Seriously though.. If the menu appeals to you, try it. Like others have said if you read long enough all the restaurants are going to have both negative and positive reviews.

While we mainly had negative experiences at 'Ohana and will most likely never go back after the last one, I wouldn't let bad reviews decide for myself. If we had done that, we would have missed out on pretty much every single WDW restaurant.

We hate, hate, hate 'Ohana. We have given it a few tries and each try got worse and worse. The service has always been awful (with the exception of the Chefs that come out and talk to my girlfriend about her peanut/tree nut allergy), the meats are overcooked and dry (the sauces can only mask that so much), and the atmosphere is just not what we like (the emcee lady is just too loud and obnoxious and the things they do for kids can be quite intrusive to those who don't have kids). Even a window seat and a view of Wishes doesn't save this place, IMO. With all the much better options at WDW, we probably won't be back to 'Ohana anytime soon.

However, I firmly believe that everyone aught to try things out for themselves. As it has been said, if you read enough reviews you can talk yourself into dropping any ADR you may have (with the exception of V&A's). The best thing to do is take what you read with a grain of salt, stick to your gut and decide based on your own, not based on what some stranger has to say about something.:thumbsup2

Although we've had a few minor problems at 'Ohana over the years (such as the waiter forgetting to bring the sauces that accompany the meats/apps), it is a MUST DO for us each year. My DH LOVES meat, and it's by far his favorite meal of our trip.

I have certainly read more good things than bad about Ohana and
Code:
having done the breakfast already, plan on doing dinner this August. It is one of the more difficult adrs to get and wont be cancelling mine. I did change my mind last year about MBYBBQ due to bad reviews and regretted not going and seeing for myself.

While we were slightly disappointed with Ohanas, I would still recommend that you go. Everyone has different likes/dislikes, opinions, and experiences.

We (especially I) did like the view, Cousin Cliff, the salad, the bread, the noodles, and the dessert. It was a very fun atmosphere, especially if you have kids. We had a window seat with a view of the castle, and were able to watch Wishes from our table. I was very excited that we got such a great seat. Also, I love the theming and Polynesian style.

DH was especially bummed about the quality of the meat. He loves his meat, and was sooo excited when he walked in and saw all of it sitting in the cooking area on skewers. When we got it, however, it was tough and dry. We love shrimp, but they were so severely overcookedn that they were nearly impossible to peel.

I would still tell you to go and see for yourself if you like it. I think I would go back again one day. Have fun and enjoyu!
