Some of you may remember the old Disney Mobile Magic app. This little beauty predated all of the Magic Band/FP+ stuff, but it allowed you to look at park maps, find information, check wait times (if you happened to be in the parks), and also had a neat little trivia game built in.
My younger boys used to love playing this trivia game; it served as a bit of a WDW fix inbetween trips for us. It was a simple interface, with questions that got progressively more difficult as the rounds went on. Your score would then go against a daily leaderboard (you would be listed by a team name you generated for each game - things like "Funny Green Cats" or "Happy Orange Frogs").
Sadly, Disney did pull support for Mobile Magic in December of 2013. I understand why they did so, but sadly, this killed the trivia game.
The thing that made the game so fun was that it was very family friendly. I love QuizUp, for example (even though it lacks a WDW category), but I can't really play it with my boys due to the timer. By the time I get the question and answers read to them, the time was often expired.
We actually went through the iTunes store and installed every single Disney World trivia app that we could find. Almost all of them incorporated a timer of some sort, which really kills the ability for me to read the question and answer choices to the boys, let them decide on an answer, then enter it. The one two that didn't have this feature were just honestly not very good.
So anyway, I've decided to look into creating a free app of my own. I'm thinking of doing a version on my website itself, as well as versions for both iOS and Android.
I'm certain that I won't be including a timer, and that I probably will include daily leaderboards or the like. I would start it off with plenty of seed questions, but will set it up in such a way that we can update the question database at any time without requiring any sort of update to the app itself.
What do you think? Are there other features that I should consider?
Thanks for your input.
