I have been looking at the menu and I am just not that impressed. I am not sure where we would go instead, any opinions??

I've learned that if you don't like what you see on the menu before your trip, you're not going to like it during your trip. In that case, I wouldn't hesitate to cancel.

We can't really give you any opinions as far as where to go instead as you have not provided us with enough information (how many people in party, what kind of dining experience you are looking for, etc.)

Check out one of the trip reports called something like "I had to lie".... they ate at the Wave and posted some pictures. I'll agree with you that by just looking at the menu it doesn't seem like anything we would be interested in, but after seeing the pictures posted, we are now considering it. Good Luck with whatever you decide. PS what are your alternatives?

Dinner at the Wave is very good.

Never had breakfast or lunch..but, would love to try both.

We were thinking the same thing before we went there. I was sure there was nothing that my husband would like. But I'm so glad we kept it. The beef tenderloin was amazing. Our server also told us we could try the sides and it we didn't like them, she would replace them. Amazingly we liked the celery root mash, even my husband, who doesn't like celery! Plus, the desserts are wonderful. I got the cheesecake, the chocolate mousse with salted caramel sauce and the blueberry compote with vanilla yogurt gelato.
We loved it so much we went back for lunch, which was also great.

If you really don't think you'll like it, then by all means cancel. But it really is worth giving it a chance. I'm so glad we did.

I am assuming you are wanting a sit down on the monorail. Grand Floridian has the Grand Floridian Cafe. Poly has Kona Cafe or Ohana. I think after that you have to move up to the signature restaurants which are all yummy, but more expensive.

We're trying The Wave next week! It looks good to me, but if nothing appeals to you, I wouldn't go there. People rave about the lobster at Narcoosee's, but I wouldn't get it because I don't like lobster!

We ate there last week and LOVED it. I wanted to cancel based on a menu I had seen online, then checked it out when we went to Chef Mckey's and still wanted to cancel. Hubbby wanted to try it and I AM SO GLAD!! Our waiter was not on top of us like some places which gave me time to eat and assist our kids (2 & 4) and he brought an extra plate for our DD2 with every course and brought out the kids salad with ours whcih usually comes with their meal.
My fish was fabulous, the edemanme salald it was served with was great, hubby loved his also, especially the mashed celery root. It is definately on the top of our list to go back to.. I was even going to try and book it again during our stay.

That said, it all depends on what u like. If u prefer quantity over quality you may not like it and stick to the buffets. We like a bit of both.

The desert trio was great (3 or four to chose from)nand the decor is defintaely going along the minimalist trend. Which I also liked.

here's some pics...

The menu does it no justice, I totally agree. You have to try it to like it. :goodvibes

That celery mash is AMAZING! We also got the same deserts I think.. YUMMY!!! :goodvibes

Try the "Antioxidant Cocktail". I know, but it was DELICIOUS! :thumbsup2

Ok, you are convincing me to try it! I definately prefer quality over quanity!

One question for those who have eaten there, do they have a "plain" traditional side? My mom does a low-carb diet and I was concerned about her finding something to eat. She generally will have a steak with a baked/mashed potato smothered in butter and sour cream (don't ask, I guess the fat counteracts the carbs??) Is she going to be able to get that?

FWIW, the fat does not counter the carbs. A baked potato has 21 grams of carbohydrates and 2.2 grams of fiber.

We recently dined at the Wave (for dinner) and were completely underwhelmed. :)

We found the food to be unispired with nothing in particular to recommend it. Was it edible? Yes. Was it delicious? No.

Spend the money on a truly memorable dinner and give a wave to the Wave.

We gave it a shot in September for dinner, not impressed one bit. We paid oop and at those prices we should have left and gone to the buffet at Trail's End. A few pieces of flank steak on a bed of shredded carrots, no potatoe or bread for 30 some dollars isn't my idea of a choice meal. We left hungry and will not return.

I liked the Wave when I ate lunch there, I would love to try dinner, which looks like the more appealing menu, (to me anyway.)

We ate at the Wave last week and will not be back. We didn't like our meal at all.

I haven't been yet, but have seen a few really good reviews of it lately, so am looking forward to trying it next year!
