Thinking of canceling my Cape May Cafe dinner ADR, but...

What to fill in? I think we'd do just fine there, really, but not really drawn to it. Although I do like the buffet format - better chance that my picky DD4 will eat! :D

We already have dinner ADRs at the following:
Garden Grill
Boma
Teppan Edo
Biergarten

I've tried, but have been unsuccessful with these:
Liberty Town Tavern
Tutto Italia
Le Cellier (Canadian DH would love this)

Any other suggestions? We're only a week out, so I'm not hopeful, but would love to hear what you guys think. The day of this ADR, we'll be at MK, so any MK or resort suggestion would be ideal.

Since you like buffets and will be at MK, how about taking the boat over to FW and doing Trail's End? I haven't tried it but I've heard it's good food (fried chicken, ribs and chili) and reasonable. I also think you'd probably still be able to get an ADR since it's not really a "headliner" restaurant.

Not a huge selection, but if you want to still be in the park you could do The Plaza Restaurant. We are doing this for lunch one day next week.

You could also take the boat over to FT. Wilderness and go to the Trail's End buffet. Cheaper than the others but enough variety for your dd. She may also like exploring there a little. The best "deal" for dinner buffets at Disney.

Or...you could take the boat to Wilderness Lodge for Whispering Canyon Cafe

Or...the Wave at the Contemporary
1900 Park Faire - but this looks full the whole time we are there...which I think is when you will also be there.

Chef Mickey's?

Did you look at the menus on allears.net? That may help you decide.

Hope this helps you out a little!
Have a great trip!:)

Since you have a 4 year old, Chef Mickey's would be great (The COntemporary). The food is so-so, but the character interaction is great. We are going again this trip just because of the characters, and my son loves it. Has a good amount of kid-friendly food. If you are going for food, try Crystal Palace, buffet also, and Pooh, Tigger and the gang is there. Not sure if it is still being refurbished or not though...

You could try for Ohana or Kona at Poly. Children can get kids meals at Ohana, so if you're concerned about your daughter not liking the regular menu, chances are they'll be able to get her something she'll like. With only a week out, it might be hard to get ADRs, but you never know. Someone may have cancelled.

There is Liberty Tree Tavern at MK, which is family-style.

Crystal Palace at MK, buffet with Winnie the Pooh and friends. Excellent food at dinner, we are going back there this summer!

Chef Mickey's at Contemporary is a buffet with characters.

1900 Park Fare at Grand Floridian is a buffet with characters.

Whispering Canyon Cafe is not a buffet but they have the all-you-can-eat skillet option, and a kids' menu of course.

Ft. Wilderness has Trail's End, a buffet that many people seem to like.

Ohana is at the Polynesian and they bring the food to you, and they have children's options as well. But it is usually booked.

You could try to get into 1900 Park Fare. It's a character buffet that's located at Grand Floridian. I'd check online multiple times a day for any restaurant you're hoping to get. You never know when one's going to show availability.

Thanks so much for all of the suggestions. Unfortunately, I'm not finding any availability for any of them, but I'm going to keep on trying. I hadn't even thought of Whispering Canyon... think my kids would love that. Is it as easily accessibly from Animal Kingdom as it is from MK? Thinking I may try to switch it out with Biergarten...

From MK, you would take a boat to Wilderness Lodge. From AK, take the WL resort bus. WL is closer to MK, but the boat is really slow, so you it might be about the same or even quicker taking the bus from AK.

Score! Got 1900 Park Fare after trying a million times. Canceling Cape May.

I also switched Biergarten for Kona at the Polynesian. Just not sure my kids will go for what they offer at Biergarten. Reading the reviews of Kona made my mouth water... :D

Still going to try for Whispering Canyon, but we'll see.

So here's what I've got lined up at this point:

Day 1:
Arrival at 6:40 (probably just QS at the CSR)

Day 2:
B: Play 'n' Dine @ Hollywood & Vine
L: 50s Prime Time Cafe
D: Garden Grill

Day 3:
B: Cinderella's Royal Table
L: Tony's Town Square (mixed reviews, I know, but willing to try)
D: 1900 Park Fare

Day 4:
B: Chef Mickey's
L: QS
D: Boma

Day 5:
B: Akershus
L: Coral Reef
D: Teppan Edo

Day 6:
B: Donald's Safari Bfast @ Tusker House
L: Rainforest Cafe
D: Kona

Day 7:
B: Liberty Tavern
L: QS
D: ?

Day 8:
Nothing booked yet... we fly out at 7:40 so we have a ton of time, but we'll probably be tired. A play it by ear day, I think.

I know we've got a lot of TS meals booked for two little ones, but I agree with other posters who used it as a chance to just chill out for a while. We found the meals really helped to rejuvenate the kids last time. I figure the DxDP will give us greater flexibility, too. If DD4 doesn't like her meal, she can share one of my appetizers or grab a filling snack later.

Anyway, thanks again everyone for your help!

Me, DH, and DD (5,5,2) went to Cape May for dinner last August. WITH reservations, still waited 45 minutes. The buffett was WAY too crowded and not that great. I would do 1900 Park Fare @ GF or 'Ohana @ Polynesian.

I hear ya. A few days do look a little scattered, but it should be ok. Day 2 is at Hollywood Studios for breakfast and lunch then off to Epcot for dinner, but I remember from our last trip that HS just didn't hold our attention for a full day, so no worries on that one. Day 4 with Chef Mickey's at CR and Boma at AKL for dinner sounds a little light on the parks, but we'd planned on taking the monorail to MK after breakfast, then hop over to AKL for dinner straight from there. Day 6 is AK for most of the day and then Poly for dinner. Day 3 is all MK, Day 5 is all Epcot, Day 7 most likely all MK.

I figure, we'll play it by ear... if it seems to much, we'll make adjustments as necessary. Hakuna Matada, right? ;)
