Anything I should be aware of in regards to using my points at another resort that is not at WDW? Looking at the list of resorts, I would like to use my points to go places other than Florida sometimes.

Thanks.

There's $95 exchange fee (non-refundable) and it will be charged again if any changes are made to reservation. You cannot both book and travel on Disney Collection vacations during last 4 months of your Use Year (excludes DisneyLand hotels) but you may book more than 4 months prior to end of your Use Year for travel during last 4 months of Use Year. If cancellation occurs before associated cancellation window closes then those points which are " reservation points " will be returned into the Use Year of the cancelled trip and cannot be banked & will expire at the end of that Use Year. Also these reservation points cannot be used to book at a DVC resort or World Passport Collection.

:)

Using your points for staying anywhere but a DVC resort is not a good value. You can usually get a better deal paying cash.

Good to know.

Many RCI resorts charge an occupancy and utility charge (usually in the fine print of your confirmation).

Sorry for butting in here, but my question sort of applies here. I've been on DIS boards for sometime, in the WDW parks area, then recently in the cruiseboards (just got off the MAGIC on Saturday). We bought points for BLT on the cruise, so are new DVC members.

So if RCI is not a good value for points, is there a better way to use the developer points, rather than staying at an RCI property? We opted for developer points instead of free cruise offer, as the cruise dates available were rather limited.

Thanks.

p.s. If my question would be answered someplace else, please let me know.

The best way to use DP is to use them for DVC accommodations. However, the discussion of value doesn't apply in the way way to one time DP the way it does to the membership overall. If you have them already it's reasonable ot investigate using them with RCI, esp if you won't/can't use them otherwise. Buying points with the idea of using those points for exchanges IS a bad deal in more ways than you can count.
