If I were to purchase 2 contracts of 100 points each at 2 different resorts, I understand that thru banking and borrowing, I could have 200 points available every year so that we could book one resort one year and the other the following year at 11 months.

We usually travel to WDW one or more times per year so I am trying to convince DH this would be great for us.

My questions are:

1. Could my contracts be titled in my name and one of my adult children
( 2 children-2 contracts --- daughter and I on on one and son and I on the other). DH really is not a Disney lover, but my children are. I'm in my early 60s and children are in their 20s and I would like DVC points to pass to them someday.

2. What do you think the chances of booking Aulani at 7 months would be in the next few years. I know we would not travel to Hawaii unless it was for a "once in a lifetime" trip.

TIA

When you own at two different resorts, you can only combine the points for booking at 7 months. With different names on the contracts, you will be required to have two different membership #'s. You can only transfer points from one membership to another once a year.
You could purchase two contracts with same use year with your name on both... then you would have one membership # and can combine points as needed without worrying about 1x/year transfer. You can then make your children associate members and leave each a contract in your will.

It is common for members with 2 contacts to use the banking option.

Example: you own 100 BLT pts & 100 SSR pts.

In 2011 bank 2011 SSR points into 2012
and borrow 2012 BLT pts into 2011.

That way you have 200 pts each year for a reservation (alternating years between SSR & BLT.)

If you do this and never need/want to combine, then UY doesn't matter.

However, if you have 2 different UY, you can never combine points for a single night. (eg you need 222 pts for a week @ BLT, even at the 7-month window, you can't just use SSR points unless SSR points are used completely for a night.)
